Thought my Garmin 660 would be my GPS for many years, but have noticed now limited battery plus shuting down for no reason. What would you judge a usful life of a Garmin GPS to be.

As announced, I have been working on adding file saving to .gpi format. In the end, this should provide a replacement for Garmin POI Loader. It also adds the ability to create POI icons directly under the Where-To menu.

From what I've read, the power cord on the Nivi 465T is 2.5 times longer than the cord on my Nivi 660. Too long, will my 660 cord work on the 465T ?

When I lock the screen..after awile it will come back up to full brightness without touching it..I have to touch the screen then it will timeout and go back to dulling the light and then it will repeat itself. Dosent seem to do this tho if im in enroute to somewhere..any ideas??

Openstreetmap.org gave me updated maps. Y'all give me updated POIs like nobody else.

Now I just need to delete Garmin's out-of-date POIs. eHow said there would be a POI folder, but I don't see it.

It looks like the out of date gpi file and it's entire folder are packaged in some indistinguishable bin file.

Please help!

Does anyone know if the "ball" on the Nivi 660 suction cup mounting arm work with the "socket" on the NiVi 465T.

Considering upgrading from 660 Garmin to 465T Garmin for truck quidance capabilities. Good choice? How does "Where am I" funtion work.

I am looking at Garmin GPS 2360LMT. For the individuals that are using one. I need to know how you like the VR on it. I have an 855 with VR and I have attach a mike to it, elimated road noise, and don't have to shout to give it commands. Do you have to shout to give the 2360LMT voice command.

I downloaded a bunch of cool voices for garmin. Apparently they are NOT compatible with my Kenwood DNX5120 which is a StreetPilot 7200. They are in the voice's folder, but do not show up in the languages section

Is there any way to convert these so they will work on a streetpilot?

I just downloaded "Southern Africa" for an upcoming trip. The download was complete and successful. I wanted the download to go onto the micro SD card, but there were no specific instructions for this. The directions say to "view maps" on the Garmin but I can't actually see the SA maps. Will we only be able to see the map when we are in the country? Obviously I am a "newbie".

I have owned a 255WT, with the FM traffic for a year. I don't use it much but when I need it, it is there. For Christmas I picked up a 265WT for my daughter.

Questions

1) I did not see anything for a free map update, but if they do, can that be applied to the 255 as well?

2) Can I manage multiple devices through the same PC interface?

Has anyone had any trouble installing the map updater application? I registered my 3760LMT and tried to install the application with no luck. The file will download from Garmin, it will extract the files to some unknown location, then stop. I have no idea how to find the extracted files to continue the installation, or if there is a problem with the downloaded application.

I have a Nuvi 200w that I just bought and I recently downloaded the POI loader. I down loaded some of the POI's from this web site and added them with the loader. But the loader but them in the Nuvi 200 directory "Favorites" instead of the POI file. Now my Favorite file is full. How do I make the change?

I like to build my own routes in Mapsource, then download them into my Garmin 850. Do later model Garmin units accept and store downloaded routes from Mapsource? Looking at lists of features given on various Garmin units at the Garmin website don't state that the new models allow that. Thanks for your input.

It seems opinion has start shifting a bit? Any thought?

I have a Garming 855. The bracket that it sits on have a place where I can attach a mike. Can this same bracket be use with GPS 3790LMT, also will the mike work with the 3790LMT.

Just got my lifetime map update card today. I've gone to my Garmin page and registered it. When I go to run the update program it says my pc doesn't have enough space and I need at least 5G. I run it on another laptop and it says it can't access the server and to make sure I'm connected to the internet (?). Anyone have any ideas?

When you buy your Garmin you have to register and download the serial number and what ever else they may need.

So If your Garmin is stolen is there a way that Garmin can track your unit when it is turned on?

I'm a little confused. I have a couple of Garmin units, and just recently updated maps, firmware, etc... Thanks to the excellent advice I've read here.

Another thing I did was download a bunch of terrific POI files and their respective .bmp icons from POI Factory (big thanks to everyone who create and maintain those projects!)
