Garmin talk

I am new to the GPS world and just got a Garmin 1300LMT. Lots of fun, lets me explore my neighborhood without getting lost, but I'm confused about one thing. When I zoom in on the map, icons appear for restaurants, gas stations, etc. If I touch one I get an arrow, but even when it is right on top of the icon, it doesn't tell me what the icon is. Should I see the name of the restaurant, etc.?

I just returned from a road trip in my Toyota Avalon. While traveling the speed displayed on my GPS was always about 3 mph faster than the speed on my car. Which one is the most accurate?

Just wanted to ask if I did a woops! My 3760 was having freezing issues that just started a~ week ago, so I went to Garmin's site and did the normal WTF (only IE)update. Then I remembered this site.

Are there any issues with this, new to me, software version?

I got a 3790 LMT for my birthday today.... I am trying to get it set up before I go back on the road tomorrow (ever see the TV show Quantum Leap, well that’s what my life is like now, I never know where the next leap will take me).

I have a GPS 3790IMT. I was deleting some favorites and a msg came back that stated "Route Waypoint memory is full." And than it shuts off. Need help to fix the problem.

Hi guys, I have the latest BMW Garmin aftermarket Nav unit in my wife's car, and it's been fantastic. I appreciate how it integrates into the factory system and quiets the stereo, etc. for instructions.

Well, the old 855 is doing a new trick now, it keeps changing from Jack to Jill's voice. I've had it do it when I've did a reset but never while I have had it in the car using it. It seems like it has something to do with shutting the car off which I could see if the battery was bad but it shows full charge and will run under it's own power.

I have an address for a motel and they also give the coordinates of Latitude: 44.01717 Longitude: -90.502014 Iwould like to learn how to enter the coordinates.Appreciate any help.Thank you Ron

Trying to do a little housekeeping. Considering my language of choice is American English, what file(s) do I need to maintain in the \text folder on my Nuvi 1390T?

There is no en_US.glx, only a en_GB.glx - is that the only english language file?

On one of foreign forums I found info, that few days ago Garmin had loaded on their servers CN Europe 2012.30. It is not being distributed yet, but it may indicate that in 2-3 weeks (maybe faster, who knows) there will be update available.

I know that last two or so times NA version was lagging behind Europe, but still, it should be released soon as well.

I have an older nuvi that does not have enough room on it to hold the newer map updates. the nuvi does have an sd card in it.

Is there a way to get the whole update on the nuvi?

I have a Garmin nuvi 760 and it was synced with my 2 year old Verizon LG phone.

I just got a new Verizon LG Cosmos 2 and cannot sync it with my nuvi.

I remember having many problems syncing my old phone with the nuvi and just when I was giving up all hope I got it to work. But no this time.

I am planning to buy new nuvi 2495LMT.. Anyone using this new 2012 model? Any suggestions? My last one got stolen (from the car..) i am pissed but gotta move on with life..

Is there a comprehensive csv file format guide, used for loading POI files? (Including behavior affected by the csv file name). I've found a ton of information about one aspect or another, but never found a complete reference, including how settings in the file relate to settings provided at POI loading time.

I replaced the battery in my nuvi. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a year ago. I replaced the original battery because it could no longer hold a charge for very long. I am now starting to notice that this "new" battery doesn't power my nuvi for very long.

I'm working on changing from a 276c to a Nuvi 1490T. I've succeeded in copying/transferring my map sets from 276c to 1490. What didn't make the trip were my custom Waypoint Symbols!

How do I move, copy, create, or otherwise get custom "map symbols" on my 1490?? I've read thru POI Loader instructions and see nothing there.

When I go to the Custom POI and click on the GPX to download and open the poi, I get a msg that "window can't open the file". This doesn't happen with a CSU POI. Why is this happening.
