I'm shopping around for a new GPS to replace my 7-8 year old 255w. Right now I'm between the 3970 and 3490. Does anyone have any experience between the devices or if you own one of these? Anyone recommend another model over these?

I saw that the 3970 is supported by garmin's red light and speed cameras which led me here, so do all of the POIs work on any model garmin?

Could someone tell me what software I need from garmin to install Traffic Cam updates?

I am trying to delete some of my Favorite and Saved address. They will not delete. They always come back. How do I permently delete them where they will not show again.

i'm a newby to this and have searched for an hour and finally decided to ask .when i go to custom poi's on my 2455 lmt i see a list of all the hd dealers in alphabetical order not in a folder.i now want to add a rustic roads folder for wisconsin and maybe other folders in the future as well. in windows 7 how do i put the hd dealer list in it's own folder and add a new folder for the rustic roads?

will an older version of english american jill work correctly if my nuvi has been recently updated with new software and maps?if so what's the easiest way?

I'm trying to find or make a better looking semi truck driving on my screen. I found a ton of different cars but no trucks. Anyone have any ideas?

I am somewhat confused regarding Extras and Favorites. When you download a gpx file the device how do you determine if it will appear as a favorite or as a custom poi?

Just did a map download with express with 2460 and 3590.
Flawless with both units except map will not authenticate
at start up screen with 3590.
Went to my garmin site but their down for maintenance.

Hi there! I just used the Garmin POI Loader to install some custom POIs [several .csv files and their respective .bmp icons] to my Garmin 2555LMT. Some of the icons display as expected, but some of them are faint, ghostly looking.

It's a legit website, I've ordered a few times from them. They seem a little slow to ship but my orders have always shown up.

The screen on my 780 broke. When the unit comes up it boots up and says loading maps then it goes to the "map update screen" I can't get past the map update screen because I when I press the 'OK" button on the screen it doesn't work because the screen is broke. Does anyone know of a way to get past this so I can get to the unit connected to the PC to pull off the favorites.

My two units have broke. I can connect to the 255W and I have a backup from the 780 which has a broken touch screen and gets hung up on the map update screen. I've followed the instructions on the garmin site (which I alse searched and found here too). The instructions say to copy the current GPX file to the new unit renamed to current1.gpx or temp1.gpx. But this does not work.

I recently took a pretty long trip and the return trip, all was fine until the next use of my 2460. The trip consisted of 1 leg about 3.5 hours then GPS disconnected overnight, 2nd leg about 5 hours then GPS disconnected for 5 days. Then returned, 5 hours then disconnected overnight, next leg 3.5 hours and back home.

FWIW, I took the plunge and updated my 2460 North American map from 2013.10 to 2013.30 (I know .40 is due out in a month or so, but that's not irrelevant). I used they MapUpdater at myGarmin, not the Lifetime Updater, and I unchecked the option at the end re Lifetime Updater.

Before the update, the JCV file was 460,009 kb. After the update it is 459,424 kb.

I got a new 665. I've uploaded the same camera poi file I have been using on my 2730 and 2820 for years with no problems. I get a warning at the camera locations, I even get the MP3 warning. What I've seem to have lost was the little icon that shows up at the intersection on the gps screen.

Garmin of course said I should use their paid poi file that you can only use on one device.

i have read info on adding the harley dealer locator to garmin nuvi's but don't want to mess up a good thing.can someone tell me how it will function?will icons show on the screen as you near a dealership?or do you bring them up to view as needed?would like to know how the harley dealer poi will work and what file or files i need to have and in what folder?i would like to install them correctly th

My 1490, which I have had for about 2 years has just (last week) started locking up my PC when it is plugged in and synced up. I have tried multiple USB cords and all the different USB sockets.

I do not have another PC to test with. None of my other USB devices affect the PC like this. It is a Windows XP system.

I know there has been discussions about transfering routes to a 3790. On the Garmin website it idcates a sofware update would be necessary to import woypoints from a gpx file. I can not find that update anywhere. I want to import a gpx from M/S trip and streets. I can get it into the 3790 but am umable to find it on the 3790.
