Did several searches here, but came up empty.
I have a Garmin c530, and a Nuvi 1390LMT that I have replaced the boot screen with one showing my Wife and I, and a phone number in case they get lost/stolen.
I want to replace it due to a new phone number, but for the life of me, I can't remember where it is, or the file name.
Getting frustrated. Please help before I remove what hair I have left.
Photo
On my 885t there is a photo folder with my photos. I just select the photo i want to use ( through the gps, select the photo icon) and there is a selection at the bottom of the screen to set it as my flash/start up screen..
Thanks for the reply.
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that doesn't work with these units.

That is a good idea to post your phone number on the start up. Here is what I just did. I connected my Garmin to the pc. I had my pic on the SD card and not in a folder there. I opened the pic with a photo editor. I added text, (my phone number) then save.
Disconnected and booted up. My old pic was still there. Then
TOOLS>PICTURE VIEWER> Tap the edited pic>Tap the i
Then check the "Display at power on?"
Turn off, then reboot. Bingo

The way to change it is by using xImage from Garmin. I can't recall the details unfortunately at this time.

Yep, that's the one! It has been awhile since I made this change, but the file name needs to be exact, and so do the dimensions.

I just D/L ximage

Cell not Home
I'm not so sure splashing your home phone number on startup is a good idea. If lost/stolen, your phone number can be reverse searched, yielding your street address and name. Perhaps use your cell phone number instead.
they already have that data

If someone has your GPS receiver and can get to the start-up screen, then they just have to enable the blue track log display (if it isn't enabled already) and they will see blue lines that show everywhere the device has been driven lately. It is pretty easy to look at this information and see where home is, no matter what foolishness you have played with the start screen or personal inconveniences you made when setting the "home" location. This information is recorded even when the track log display is disabled.
Small town
I don't have to worry about who knows where I live.
