I believe the largest officially supported size is 8GB. See:

16GB SDHC works for me
I think you will have no problem using even a 16GB card. Just make sure you have the latest firmware for the 260W.
I have used a 16GB SDHC Class 10 card both in my 2460, and in my 660, (much older than your 260W).
The card is a SanDisk SDHC Micro card, it fits into the 2460 direct, for the 660 I insert it into an adapter since the 660 uses a standard SD card.
I'm sure it would read even a 32GB card but have never tried it, nor would I ever need that much storage space for a GPS.
P.S. Make sure the card is formatted to Fat32.

I use a 32GB card in my 750. I use it because I had it on hand. Next map isn't going to fit on internal memory so I'm glad to have a card to use.
