GARMIN NUVI 255 VS NUVI 350

what are the differences. which is best

255 has newer chipset

I cannot compare features directly, but I replaced a lost 370 with a 255W. The 255 lacks a few cute bells and whistles that the 370 had but in some ways has an easier to use interface. I got because it has newer chipset and such, and it seems to make some difference (though I mostly got because I like new). I did get the 255W and I think i am happy having gone wide. But do check the features you need, since if you need, say, bluetooth, the 255 does not have. But easy enough to do that comparison on the Garmin web site. My guess is that the 3xx series is dead, but I do not work for Garmin. Neal

Nuvi 255W/European SD card

I don't know what it

I don't know what it difference but I would should 255 since it newer hardware that I assume it would be faster that 350.

Lower battery life

The Nuvi 255 has only 4 hours of rated battery life versus 8 hours for the Nuvi 350. I however like the next turn arrow on top that the Nuvi 255 displays.

255 has a wide screen

255 has a wide screen, while 350 has a smaller 4:3 screen. Wide screen usually has a reduced battery life.

Garmin GPS

I get so confused trying to figure the Garmin models- they must put the numbers in a hat and draw out the next model. They have so many and they are all numbered different and then they discontinue them.

I was at Fry's the other day and saw one that was extra wide and completely different model. Don't remember the number.

map update 350 vs new 255

My 350's maps are 3 years old (also have a new 1450). Was considering getting the lifetime maps for the 350 - but I see Amazon has the 255 with lifetime maps for about $86. Might be worth the extra $25 or so for a newer unit (?).
