Question - Route Waypoints Saved as Favorites

I know that when I create Waypoints and Routes in MapSource and then download them to my Nuvi, the Nuvi makes Favorites out of those Waypoints used in the Routes. Since I have downloaded many Routes and many Waypoints, my Favorites is getting really full.

After a successful download, can I delete some of these Favorites from my Nuvi without messing up my Routes?

Thanks in advance..........Durango

.

You don't need to have Waypoints saved as Favorites for the Routes to work properly.

Transferring from Mapsource to Nuvi

When transferring routes from Mapsource, make sure you clear the checkmark next to 'Waypoints' in the 'Send to Device' dialogue box. This way, only the routes will be transferred. As 'Motorcycle Mama' indicated, waypoints are not needed for the Mapsource-generated route to work.

Thanks to MM and Geocamp

Since I want to keep some of the Waypoints as Favorites, I think I will just delete those I don't want.

Thanks again........Durango

POI as favorites

I loaded a POI file and it saved them as favorites nuvi200

.

Is this a question or perhaps a request for help?

If the POIs ended up as Favorites, then you likely didn't load them with POI Loader, but instead you copied the GPX file directly to your nuvi or to your SD card.

request for help

I used the POI loader, I downloaded the H-D Dealers.gpx POI and the H-D Dealers_all.bmp copying the .bmp to the POI folder thinking it would add a icon to the POI section. It installed all of them in my favorites Thanks for any help

.

But did you also copy the GPX file to your nuvi or do you have it stored on your SD card?

Also, in order to get the icon to load, you need to rename it to match the Custom POI file name.

I first loaded the POI file

I first loaded the POI file with the POI loader but I could not find them on my nuvi then I copyed the GPX file to my nuvi and thats when they showed up in my favorites. I deleted all of them and reloaded the POI file with the loader but I can't find them.

As MM Said

The bmp file needs to be named the same as the poi file except for the file extension:
H-D Dealers.gpx
H-D Dealers_all.bmp (wrong)
H-D Dealers.bmp (correct)

Did you look in where to>extras>custom pois?

Touch where to ,my locations, extras and then custom pois and you will see them.

That was it. THANK YOU:)

That was it. THANK YOU:)

If I load another POI file

If I load another POI file will I have two custom POI
or one ??

one

If you load one poi at a time one will over write the other. to get more than one loaded put them all into one folder, then load that folder and all of them will show up.
