Scenic Route

The Garmin units I had before I got my 680 (GPS-196 and GPS-296) had the ability to select "scenic" routes whereby you could avoid dull freeway drives. Wonder why Garmin didn't include this feature on the Nuvi's?

Choose "Avoid Toll Roads"

Toll Roads?

Avoiding toll roads wouldn't do anything where I live. The only "toll roads" in California are a few bridges that have a toll. Perhaps choosing to avoid Highways might work for the scenic routes but there are a lot of small highways. I don't know the criteria used by the unit for avoiding highways. You might not be able to get anywhere or have to take really strange routes.

No scenic routes

Maybe they forgot the feature since here in Kansas (I live about 1.5 hours from Gramin's HQ) we really do not have many "scenic" routes. Either that or due to the lack of anything really tall (except the occasional tree) all of our routes are scenic.

Ok, its not quite that bad.

Scenic Routes

Actually, if I remember the way it worked, the unit would display the quickest route in one color and the "scenic" route in a different color. Basically, the scenic logic was to avoid 4-lane highways.

What about avoiding

What about avoiding highways, that will put you either on city streets or country roads
