Garmin talk

I went to amazon to check the current prices on the NUVI 3597 and amazon said Garmin was discontinuing it.
Has anyone heard anything about this. They may be
coming out with something in the new 2015 line.

Anyone know how to replace the battery in the 2797 ?

I just got back from a good trip from AZ to IL. The power cord on my Nuvi 2595 appears to have a short. Since it has traffic built-in, I wanted one that has a traffic receiver. My wife has a 1450 that came with the same cord. I used her cord during the trip and the traffic does not work with her cord, even though the coprds are the same model (GTM-26).

I am just wondering Garmin StreetPilot Onboard allows Custom POIs?

I have a Garmin 765T and I downloaded a 2014.10 map. Can someone tell me what the difference between a 2014.10, 2014.20, 2014.30, 2014.40 maps mean? My mother has a newer Garmin and she has the 2014.40 map.

Downloaded 2015.2 to my 3490. When it is connected to my Computer running Win 8.1 or laptop running Win 7 I get an error message indicating it is not recognized. However, it does show in the my computer windows both the nuvi and storage card. Garmin tech says "no problem" but I am not so sure.

would like one that leaves a breadcrumb trail/tracks
currently using a nuvi 205 also need a model that i can plan a route using mapquest/google/ or my map source pgm.

I downloaded the State Parks-Florida POI file from the site to my computer. I execute the POI Loader program and point to the CSV file on my laptop. When I select copy to my Nuvi 2557, it states "reading POI file" However, it never updates beyond 0% read. Any suggestions appreciated. Perhaps the Nuvi 2557 does not support POI.

I recently traveled to Tacoma Washington and used my GPS there. Upon return to Iowa unit still shows SeaTac airport as "Where Am I" coordinates, and can't find local satellites. Does anyone know a fix for this problem?

Wired earbuds are a must for me to hear turn by turn directions. None of the current models of Nuvi for auto navigation have a phone jack. The very expensive Zumo does.
So....can I buy an affordable current Garmin GPS that I can modify to install a small phone jack to its speaker output? Are you aware of directions to do so that you can point me to?

Garmin has announced a series of 5, 6, & 7" Advanced Series Nuvi models for 2014. These include the the 2539, 59, 89, and 99 five inch models, the 2639 and 2689 6 inch models and a single 7" model, the 2789. Details are at:

Garmin has released a new version of Garmin Express which maybe helpful to anyone having issues installing the 2015.20 map update. The change log reads:

• Fix an installation of Garmin Express issue with the C++ redistributable
• Fix an issue where updating computer installed maps would fail
• Fix an issue where Express was not recognizing the Monterra

I use Trip Planner to route a trip with multiple waypoints. Unfortunately, I have had cases where it comes to a waypoint and fails to give the next direction until, I pass through the point.

Once I pass through the waypoint, it works fine. Unfortunately, until that happens, I'm left with the dilemma of deciding if I make a left or right turn, or to go straight.

Provided an Intro on the Welcome Forum. Using GPSBabel and POI DownLoader I downloaded a particular POI file in CSV format and then successfully translated it to GPX. However when I open the file on BaseCamp the coordinates are all over the ma. Everywhere but where they are suppose to be. Yet if I do each location one at a time they are spot on. What am I doing wrong?

I know I can add POIs to the nav system 430N. I've done it.
But want to know if you can add POIs with alerts. And if so how to do it. Thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

ps. this is a 2014 Chrysler T&C with a Garmin nav system 430N.

Hi Anyone,

I accidentally deleted all files from the GPS folder including the map. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone can copy and zip the files from GPS and upload it to somewhere like dropbox so I can download it that would be awesome. You dont need to include the map (.img) files as i am aware it's quite big.

Driving home from a day trip yesterday, I noticed a new junction view screen on my 2597. This is the first time I've taken a trip since the new map update (and I missed quite a few updates so forgive me if this is old news) so this was new to me. I don't know the names for things but this is what I call them:

Whenever I type an address I get the message "This product does not support address search."

Am I overlooking something?
