Garmin talk

Just got a Garmin 255WT, I'm hooked on it and the POI factory, the forum seems to be alot of really decent people acting (really decent) something you don't see on lots of forums. I'll be back!

I've checked the latest manual, and there is no clear explanation.....
Path to get to Tour Guide Settings is:
Wrench (Settings)
Proximity points
TourGuide (Set at Autoplay now...)

My Question is with regard to POI's that are re-named with the _TourGuide re-naming.... and the configuration for TourGuide in the above labled path...

The Settings for TourGuide are:
Off
Prompted

I found a problem in loading my lifetime maps onto my c530 which has limited memory. Procedure is to pick a section of maps (Western States, for example) and then to use mapinstall to load the remaining areas on my SD card.

In order to remove you custom POI's from your unit, Garmin tells you to do the following:

You must have the latest version of the POI Loader installed onto your computer. Then, follow the steps:
Connect your unit to the computer
Open the POI Loader program
Click Next on the first screen

Would it be worth it to reactivate my MSN. They finally deactivated it a year after my first subscription ran out. I thought maybe it would go till 2012 end time. Oh well, maybe a new Google phone that I can talk too. What does anyone think of their GPS capabilities? Seems like an all in one solution, you can call if you get lost...:>)

Just got my 1390t I am confused on how to put in the destination.
Unless you know the exact address of it, or two cross streets it doesnt know where to take you.
Example, WalMart on orical rd. in tuson thats all I know. How do I enter the info to get there.

I'm having trouble displaying POI icons and alerts. I have Shell and Chevron gas stations set for POIs. On a 15 mile trip I passed at least 6 of those gas stations and was only able to see 1 of those which was Shell. I do see all the stock icons like the fork/knife, Gas symbol and the $ logo.

I've downloaded all the POIs, bmp and mp3 files here.

I was in Barnes & Noble and noticed a book called "The Garmin Nuvi Pocket Guide". In the resources section in the back of the book, the POI Factory was listed as the place for download POIs. Way to go POI Factory.
PS: the book is very basic and good for newbie users.

There's no doubt that the 755t has a touch screen issue. There are enough posts in here suggesting that same issue. I had one for about a week. Right out of the box i had that issue, and it didn't get better with the firmware upgrade. The odd thing is, that i was told in here that the 755t 765t and the 775t had the same guts just different options. If that is true, i must have gotten REAL lucky.

Bought a Nuvi 855 a couple months ago, and have had problems with the battery staying charged. E-mailed Garmin indicating the problem, and after a couple more e-mails to explain how the device is used (and charged), they are sending me a new battery. This is my 4th Garmin device, and I'll never buy anything other than Garmin because of their excellent customer support.

Was headed North in Florida on a secondary road when my garmin eagle (nuvi 205) began off-roadin' adjacent to the highway I was on. It went through lakes, crossed rivers, ditches, and buildings/trees were NO obsticals at all. When it crossed an adjacent highway, of course it dutifully recalculated to get itself back on the main road (and me off of it).

I am presently in Naples Fl. I keep getting a speed warning (8 MPH ) is there any way of knowing from what POI file is this warning coming from and also the speed limit on this roadway is 45 mph.So where does my garmin get this 8MPH

nuvi 1820-1860

I have an Garmin eTrex H and a Garmin 255W. When I'm sitting with both and ask each for the coodinates I get two different results. They are several miles apart. How can this be and which is correct (the most accurate)?

New user. Downloaded and installed the POI files for Red Light Cameras and Speed Cameras. Is there anything else I must do in order for the alerts to be activated?
