Another Kudo for Garmin

Bought a Nuvi 855 a couple months ago, and have had problems with the battery staying charged. E-mailed Garmin indicating the problem, and after a couple more e-mails to explain how the device is used (and charged), they are sending me a new battery. This is my 4th Garmin device, and I'll never buy anything other than Garmin because of their excellent customer support. Unlike a few comments I've seen here, I do like the hands-free aspect of the Nuvi 8XX series devices. It can be finikey (?) at times, but overall, works great.

Cheers...... Joel

Garmin does have good customer service. I hope it stays that way. I have always bought Garmin and will continue to do so as long as they support their products. I have a Palm PDA and they have horrible customer support -- that is the last time that I will buy a Palm product.

called them and they sent me a new battery within a couple days

I had a similar problem with my 885T and called them and they sent me a new battery within a couple of days with a year newer mfg date. Works great and now I have a spare battery.

Always gotten help from them when needed

At least some parts of the company understand that satisfied customers are your best salespeople!

I agree. In the few times that I have had to deal with Garmin support, they were very helpful. Highly recommended.

Have been great to me.

Have been great to me.

Hopefully Garmin stays like that. They have good cs...

I've owned a 855 for a while

I've owned a 855 for a while and I love the unit beacause of the voice recognition and that I can avoid roads on my route. I've own all the model and

I agree that garmin is the best beacause of the following reasons: lifetime maps, customer support, frequent software updates, ability to adds cars, ability to add voices, free traffic, ability to add POI's, ability to use Google maps and Mapquest to copy your routes and POI's to the garmin, it tells you if the destination is on the left or right, and most important realible routes even though they are not 100 % perfect. No unit is perfect but Garmin comes close.

Garmin Support..

That was one of the reasons I bought a Garmin. The other was what my wife told me, ie: "If you get lost one more time confused , I'm going to......." wink

Well anyways..

I'm not really lost.... just temporarily misplaced!

Good support with me too

I have never had to call on my Nuvi but I have had excellent support on my old Legend C...mostly by email too so no waiting on the phone.

Good to hear as it can make or break a decision to buy, and many times the negative is easier to find and read about than the good.

Customer Service Alone Can not Keep Customers Happy Forever

I have never had a complaint about Customer Service but I have also never spent so much time talking to any other CS dept. I am a total gadget junkie and have many little toys, none of them have had to go back to the manufactuer as often as my Garmins. None of them have been bricked or had their functionality limited for more than a month b/c of bad software updates. Garmin needs to put as much focus on quality control as they do CS. If you look on other threads longtime customers are getting fed with many problems.

Them sending you a new battery is an improvement in the past they wanted you to send any and every problem back to them for repair

Third Garmin

I am onto my third Garmin product, all three have been trouble free from day one and all are still working OK. Garmin make GPS units for many applications, marine, aviation and general recreational use and have been in business for a few years now so they must have the customer support to deal with all these products. It’s nice to hear when a company is doing something right and it makes a change from just hearing about when things go wrong.
As I have said, I am onto my third Garmin product and I am happy with my decision to stay with Garmin.
