755t vs. 765t

There's no doubt that the 755t has a touch screen issue. There are enough posts in here suggesting that same issue. I had one for about a week. Right out of the box i had that issue, and it didn't get better with the firmware upgrade. The odd thing is, that i was told in here that the 755t 765t and the 775t had the same guts just different options. If that is true, i must have gotten REAL lucky. I returned mine and got a 765t 3 days ago. Costco has them on sale for the same price that i paid for my 755t. Right out of the box this unit behaved like my old 255w did, no issues. I get the screen lag sometimes at home and once in a while when i hit the back button my fat finger grabs the icon above. Needless to say i'm NOT going let Garmin update the firmware when i get my map update.
There's a post on how to do that in here somewhere. Be interesting to find out how many of you 765t owners have issues with your unit regarding touch screen smile

I guess I've been lucky. I've owned a 755T for over a year and probably use it more than most (as far as screen changes go) and have never had a touch screen problem. I use my unit quite heavily for driving and experimentation for writing my articles.

I got my unit the very week it was released to the public. Perhaps they introduced Gremlins later in the production line.

755 vs765T

I own a 765T and had no trouble with it at all, how ever, a friend purchased a 755 and asked me to update maps and all. When I started to work with it, I noticed that the touch screen was very slow to respond to touch. I thought it was me but he also confirmed it when I mentioned it to him. When he tried my 765T, he could not beleive the difference. I even try recalibrating the screen which made no difference at all. The 755 is just plain SLOW to respond.

Hard reset

I have not had that problem with my 755T. The only thing I would do is try a hard reset.

Could have been a bad unit or a bad batch of units. The 755 and 765 are the exact same unit with the exception of bluetooth support on the 765, so one would assume that they would all work pretty much the same in day to day operation.
