Displaying POI for Garmin Mobile XT

I'm having trouble displaying POI icons and alerts. I have Shell and Chevron gas stations set for POIs. On a 15 mile trip I passed at least 6 of those gas stations and was only able to see 1 of those which was Shell. I do see all the stock icons like the fork/knife, Gas symbol and the $ logo.

I've downloaded all the POIs, bmp and mp3 files here.

Are the POIs out of date that's why they are not showing? For as long as I know those gas stations been there since I've lived here for 8 years.

Or is it the speed i'm going or some settings on my Garmin? My current settings are (3d Maps, Most Detail, auto zoom off, zoomed in all the way.

Also the one time I did see the Shell Icon, I noticed it was really small. It's about as small as the diameter of my stylus. Is this correct for my device?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

POIs in Garmin Mobile XT

Go to the main screen, and tap the wrench icon. Select Map, then Map Features. Press the down arrow until POI is displayed. Tap POI and you'll be able to turn the POIs on if they aren't already on, as well as set the size of the POI icons themselves.

Mine was shut totally off, but I turned it back on since unlike my nuvi, it has Internet access so the POI database can be dynamically updated.

For Garmin Mobile XT though, I find 3D to be useless because of the lack of available memory. Unless you have a speedy processor and decent memory, I'd go back to 2D.

Okay I saw my second POI

Okay I saw my second POI Icon. It was a Micky D's close to my house. That icon was very small. It could only be seen when holding the phone. No way I can see it on my suction cub cell phone holder on my windshield.

Also the custom poi alert did not work only the standard alert. Anyone know what I need to change to get the custom poi sound alert to work? Do I need the wav instead of the mp3?

Anyone know how to make the icons larger on Garmin Mobile XT. I've tried the settings to the large label but still looks tiny. About the diameter of my stylus pen. I want Icons as big as the speedometer sign.
