OFF-Roadin' when headed NORTH

Was headed North in Florida on a secondary road when my garmin eagle (nuvi 205) began off-roadin' adjacent to the highway I was on. It went through lakes, crossed rivers, ditches, and buildings/trees were NO obsticals at all. When it crossed an adjacent highway, of course it dutifully recalculated to get itself back on the main road (and me off of it). Repeatedly reseting power had no effect, but to give me a low strength sat sig notice every once in awhile. Any other nuvi off-roaders out there? I guess having the unit on windshield and heading north means the sat signal(from south?) has to penetrate the roof and weakens the signal? I guess it was a little cloudy too. Kind of funny, but doesn't give you alot of confidence in the accuracy of directions when approaching a turn.

nuvi 250 --> 1250T --> 265T Lost my 1250T

off Road

I have gotten "off road" on a few occasions but it was due to in accurate maps. One stretch is between Gadsden Alabama and Hokes Bluff Alabama, a distance of about 4 miles. The road was relocated north roughly a quarter mile but the maps have never been updated to show the change. Nuvi 350 shows me off road and prompts me at every cross road to get back on course. When the old road bed and new road converge, Jill is happy to shut up and let me drive.

Also look at your windshield

Also have a look at your windshield at the top to see if there are any heater/antenna/general shielding wires or grids that might wack your signals.

Bear in mind that the gps antenna is at the top-ish of the unit (I'm pretty sure). I usually mount my units below/behind my rearview mirror where they have a better sky view, but I know that isn't legal in some states.

What you've described hasn't happened to me with my 765T or 200W though. I'm in the mid-atlantic but I've headed north toward NY many times.

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

2 things

1. Maps - your maps may not be up to date OR the map data is misaligned with the display.

2. Low signal - as you "loose" satellites, the accuracy decreases so it may have positioned you where it thought you were, but it should have paralleled the road.
