I downloaded software version 4.90 to my garmin nuvi 650 and now i have no voices. how do i roll back the version.

I'm looking to update some POI on my new Nuvi 1490T I picked up yesterday. I have limited experience with GPSs, as I typically get along very well without them, but I figured I'd give them a try...so I hope this isn't too rudimentary of a question.

I've generated an OpenStreetMap gmapsupp.img file of an Asian city at http://garmin.na1400.info/routable.php. If I drop the file in the internal 1490T drive in either \.System, or \Garmin, the unit does not see the map, i.e. it is not on the maps list. However, if I drop the file on the SD card in \Garmin, the unit sees the map, and when selected it works like a charm (as expected).

Ok, I now dloaded the file Sox for the Sound and put it into the POILoader file. Now when I click on a Sound that I want all it does is Play, it does not ask me where to put the wav. All it does is just play. Whats up? I am doing something incorrect? Thanks again, Steve

Hi, I just purchased a 265WT which so far works great. I did have a TomTom which was pretty old. Now I have a nicer GPS unit and it has the same features as my old TomTom had. One of the problems that I am having is getting my POI to sound a alert when I am approaching. Is this a feature on the 265WT that I can go to, or it is just impossible to do with the 265. Thanks Steve....

This might be a rumour, a friend told me that he got NA 2011.10 map update from garmin, anybody know if this is true ?.

I purchased a 1490T at Costco ($249.99) and it came loaded with version 3.60. I upgraded to 3.90 and it is working without any problems traffic or otherwise, to date. I have a 765T and have been waiting for over a month to have Garmin fix the traffic reception problem caused by 3.90 on the 765T. I am told by my Garmin contact that the engineers are working on it.

I have loaded a Red Light Camera alert on my 265wt and nothing happens except two (2) bells when approaching a Red Light Camera. I have change the mp3 name to look just like the CSV file except for the MP3 extension.

Does the 265wt support a mp3 sound?

When Garmin sends out a map update, does it include updates to the built in POIs that come with the unit?

A bit unrelated to POIs however I currently have a Quest 2 and am able to create routes and send them to the device. I use this for motorcycle rides. I'm going to be upgrading to a Nuvi however when doing comparisons on products at Garmin's website all of the units under $250 say "Routes: 0" Does that mean you can't create a custom route and send to the device?

The waiting and wondering is over.

Below is a link to the new Nuvi 3700 series announced today on the Garmin website..Other than design I don't see anything earth-shattering and you wonder why they wouldn't make it in the 5" rather than the 4.3" and doesn't mention nu-link.

Does anyone have a garmin VIB 10 that they are not using and might want to sell?

I have constructed a mapset on my PC using both CNNA 2010 and topo maps - MapSource. I have also created 40 custom waypoint icons in the proper format. The Custom icons appear on the maps on my PC, but do not migrate when I transfer the mapset to my 276c unit. When I look on the menu for custom waypoint icons, that field is blank, and generic icons are assigned to the waypoints on the unit.

I'm planning to purchase a nuvi 760 and am just learning about FM traffic options. I see several providers to choose from: https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=268

Which do you recommend? On units with free traffic, which provider is used?

I have just downloaded rest areas to my 660. They are found in Extras under Custom POIs. How do I put them in their own heading of Rest Areas? I would like to add other Groups of POIs but want to keep them under seprate headings. How do I do it? When traveling what is the best way to find out how far you are away from the next rest area on your chosen route?

I will be in the market soon to buy a new car. While I have a nuvi 750 and am very pleased with it, my heart wants a built in GPS because it is another toy to play with and makes the dash look "Hi-Tech". Can I have some feed back from members who have switched from hand held to built-in and let me know the pro's and con's as you have experienced them.

Call me more money than brains.
