MP3 on NUVI 265wt

I have loaded a Red Light Camera alert on my 265wt and nothing happens except two (2) bells when approaching a Red Light Camera. I have change the mp3 name to look just like the CSV file except for the MP3 extension.

Does the 265wt support a mp3 sound?

265 will not play mp3's

The 265 will not play mp3's you need wav files see http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25730 .See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/25721 for custom pois.

It worked!

Thanks. I had downloaded the sox.exe file and changed the mp3 to wav. It now works.

Thanks,

wav files

You will enjoy the voice alerts.I have had my 265 for over a year now.If you haven't noticed yet the 265 can assign categories to favorites just like the custom pois.

How do I assign categories

Charles,

Thanks for the reply. How do I assign categories to my favorites list?

Again Thanks,

Rick-SAR

Select one of your favorites

Select one of your favorites and touch edit located at bottom of the screen.Scroll down and you will see change categories.Touch it and you will see a list of categories you can put a check mark in.If you don't see any thing you like select new at bottom and type in your own category.

Edit.If you have a lot of favorites you can also use Mapsource instead of editing on the gps itself.

1. Hook gps up to computer using usb cable.
2. Bring up map source.
3. Click on Waypoints then click on Transfer at top of page and select receive from device and click on it. You will now see your favorites.
4. Click on edit, preferences and click the waypoint categories.
5. Change the 1-16 as needed for the categories you want listed on the gps. Not necessary to change all of them. Hit ok after each one you select until you complete.
6. Go back to view at top and click show user data tabs.
7. Now click on the waypoint and put check mark in the category you want for that favorite. Complete all waypoints.
8. Select transfer, send to device and put check mark in waypoints only. Click send.

Tools for custom pois.

Here is one more thing you will need to add to the tool kit.Lots of us convert csv files to gpx so we can build the alert distance into the files. This allows us to run poiloader in express mode instead of manual.Lots of things can be done with gpx files http://www.poi-factory.com/node/6203 you can't do with the csv.Plus better display on gps screen with more info without the more tab.You will want to download Extra Poi Editor.See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/28521 .EPI not set up for Mac use only windows right now.

Is it possible to move the location of the EXTRAS button in the nuvi menu. I use my custom POI frequently, and always have to page down from the menu to get to the extras button.

Like Juggernaut stated no.What you can do before you download a file to Extra Poi Editor click on options then preferences.Under Filter put check mark in Enable automatic phone number extraction and Enable automatic state and post code extraction. Now load a csv or gpx file to it.Then save as a Garmin gpx file.In most cases when you load to the gps(Depending on how much data in file) you will see more on the first screen with out the more tab.You can play around with the different fields if needed to get the desired result.Double clicking on any of the custom pois in EPE will take you to the next screen to see what fields have data in them.
