May want to be careful with this update however:

Changes made from version 3.90 to 4.00:

* Corrected an issue that can cause the unit to hang on startup. *NOTE: This update will delete the contents of the GPX\GPX folder on the unit, which contains trip log archives.

Also this update is for ALL 13xx and 14xx models.

Took A Chance

Downloaded and installed the 4.0 software update and the only thing it was suppose to eletes in the GPX file was the trip log which I didn't care about anyway. It didn't delete the trip log after all and favorites are still there. Everything seems to be working fine with no problems.

I know you do get gun shy about doing updates from Garmin. I figured I just got it so if the update screwed it up back to Costco it would go.

Costco

Right on! Last time I returned my 1490T to Costco for an exchange..I got a cash card for $ 56.00, because the price went down...That was a nice surprise!

Firrissr, any more problems to report after the 4.00 update?

I'm gun shy because I don't think Mickey Mouse has gotten his walking papers yet from the Garmin Software Department.

LOL!

Since I'm a Disneyland Annual Passholder and go there with my son on a weekly basis (at least), I will see if I can get to the bottom of this with Micky & Friends. And no, I don't work for Garmin either.

Dorkus, Dopey is now in HR at Garmin.

So perhaps we should hold him responsible for keeping Mickey in the Software/Firmware Downgrade Center.smile

Use your pass to confirm this please. Once you park in the east parking lot and enter the main gates, it's the second brick building on the left. Good luck.

Its a shame you DON'T work for Garmin, cuz if you did, I believe we'd have one tenth of the problem threads we are reading/commenting on.

Absolutely No Problems....

We took a 600 mile trip this last weekend and the unit worked extremely well. The blue tooth was a real surprise. The people on the other end said it sounded great and the speaker on the unit was loud and clear. I have owned four garmin's and I think this one is a home run for them. Loving it....

Well the update did screw up the blue tooth. Now the unit will connect with my phone about one out of ten times which it did every time before the update. Garmin says you can't go backwards on the updates so back it went to Costco and got another new unit and connects every time with the phone. Will not be doing a firmware update on this one. Seems they attempt to fix probelems and create new ones on these updates.

Updated this weekend

No problems yet. Bluetooth works fine, no problems with connecting.

Glad you told us farrissr as I was about to update.

So, Mickey is still collecting a paycheck it appears. I wonder if ANYONE at Garmin reads these forums.

My phone????

It could be my phone I don't know. Yours may work ok after the update but that is a chance you would take. My phone LG Dare (VX9700) is one of the few LG phones Garmin says is compatible with blue-tooth. Don't know what to say at this point. The funny thing is the update says it is suppose to improve blue-tooth connectivity...go figure....

I would venture to say

That was just Mickey talking about the improved blue-tooth connectivity:)

Phone

Does not make sense.
My phone (Casio Brigade) is not shown on Garmins list, yet it works with no problems.
