Garmin Express to version 7.29.1.0 today. This is my normal first step in the process I use to update maps on the Nuvi units we have. Seldom update GE between map updates.

GE update DID NOT change or enable "Launch GE when computer starts" or "Always keep GE running in background" settings in GE's General Settings. YMMV -- so it's always worth checking!

This version of Garmin Express has reenabled the task that checks for updates at 2 AM. Even if the computer is off at 2 AM it will run the next time it is ON. To disable, go to the Task Scheduler using the command taskschd.msc. Once there expand the Task Schedule Library, the scroll down the list and locate the Garmin Updater Task. Right click the task and chose Disable. There is also a Delete option but I've never used it.

Then go to C:\ProgramData\Garmin\Logs\Express. This is where the logs are written in Windows 10 and it is probably the same in other versions. You can safely delete all the logs, each of which take up about 500K.
