Garmin City Navigator North America Map Update 2027.20
Thanks for the tip.
I updated Garmin Express and my DriveSmart 65 with Amazon Alexa is connected as I type this.
However, when I tried to update my Garmin Zumo XT over wifi, I received an error message. I then tried with a cable. The message I got was that is was updated to 2027.2, but when I went to use it, CN NA was gone!
I am good now on the Zumo XT with CN North America NT 2027.20 restored.

I was first prompted to update GE to GE 7.29.1.0. I was just doing something involving GE over this past weekend without any such prompt.
The update to Garmin City Navigator North America Map Update 2027.20 went smoothly.
As is typical, the map update left a 8.3GB folder on my Windows 10 PC. The path on my PC is C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Map\Map_Map.NA.2027.20

Garmin City Navigator North America Map Update 2027.20
I had a hiccup with my Garmin Nuvi 3597. I got a message that the micro SD card, that is been in there for quite a while, was incompatible. I performed a quick format on the micro SD card and then it updated.
My Garmin DriveLuxe 51 LMT-S was stuck on the "Preparing Device for Map Update" for a while. So, I rebooted everything and ran Garmin Express as an administrator and it updated everything correctly.
The Garmin Nuvi 50 updated without any issues.
It will be interesting to see if a 2027.30 comes out in early November. I think we are seeing about 3 updates per year these days.
Thank you
Thanks, Updating now.

Thanks again, HarryAR!
You continue to come through for those of us that can use the large JCV files.
With the additional views, we enjoy a better experience than when our devices were new!

Thanks so much for uploading the large JCV file for us that still need it.
No Issues
Updating a Garmin 2598 and Win 11 Home PC with the City Navigator North America Map Update 2027.20 maps.
As usual, had to remove left over installer files for both the maps and garmin express from my Windows 11 "C:\ProgramData\GARMIN\CoreService\Downloads" directory.

Thanks for posting the large JCV files. Really appreciate you doing this for those of us with older devices that don't get them with new map updates. Thanks again.

3rd Map Update since it was
3rd Map Update since it was announced, 2nd Map Update since work began:
Round-about replacing intersection.
Round-about finished, but sewer update on access road still ongoing. Western NC US276/US 19 near Waynesville/Maggie Valley.
New Map Update still shows intersection, but improved mapping on road nearby. Maybe next time!
At least the OS Update from last map revision loaded smoothly!

I am curious on how quickly competitors update their maps. For example, Google Maps seems to update very quickly.
Have you ever downloaded maps from Open Map Chest onto your Garmin to compare?

Started process by...
updating Garmin Express to version 7.29.1.0. This is my normal first step in the process since I seldom update GE between map updates. GE update DID NOT change or enable "Launch GE when computer starts" or "Always keep GE running in background" settings in GE's General Settings. YMMV -- so it's always worth checking!
Then updated maps to 2027.20 and TZ to 41.00 on nuvi 2455LMT and 2555LMT. No issues, smooth update installation and took about 45 mins per unit. Did all updates using a Windows 10 laptop (yes, living on the edge).
quick release
I just updated my DS61 to 2027.20 only took about 20 minutes. It always seems to go faster when I wait for a week or two after the release date.
Speaking of dates, did this one come out pretty quick? Seems like 2027.10 was just released in June?

The other night, I updated the map in my Nuvi 1450LMT with the newest release but this time I used, for the first time, a Windows 11 OS & the Garmin Express for Windows 11.
Everything seemed to have went good until a simulation route was performed as a test, utilizing an I-40/I-26 interchange within a local metropolitan city.
After this update, for some odd reason, the 1450 created a long route through the metropolitan city streets and back-roads to the assigned destination, when it should have used the direct route - utilizing the interstate but contrarily routing way out-of-the-way. I performed a second test, at a second location and it did the same thing.
I assume it has something to do with using Windows 11 or the most current Garmin Express that glitches the route algorithm.
It ain't Windows 11 or Garmin Express

Your assumption is flawed. It's more likely that the map editors made an error in lining up map tiles and your 16-year old device thinks the road is no longer contiguous. That isn't a Garmin Express issue or a Windows 11 issue.
Which "local metropolitan city" did you encounter this in, so others can test your route and see if they can reproduce your issue?
EDIT: Asheville, NC is the "local metropolitan city", based upon a quick Google search.

Asheville NC
HERE WeGo and Google Maps both show road construction on and around the interchange. Maybe the GPS is trying to route around the construction zones.

Here's the thing. For his
Here's the thing. For his assumption to be correct, two things would have to be true.
1. Everyone is using Windows 11.
2. Everyone is using the latest version of Garmin Express.
Not everyone on this forum uses Windows 11 and not everyone uses the latest Garmin Express. Windows 11 cannot be the culprit here as it's not blocking Garmin Express from doing its job. Garmin Express also cannot be the culprit since all it does is download maps direct from Garmin's servers and copies them to the device. His assumption fails to take into account the device itself. My initial belief was that his 1450 was the culprit due to lack of RAM. Sixteen years is a very long time for such a device. The only thing I could see as the root cause would be a map error. He's running a simulation so if he has a traffic receiver he's not using that. On a 1450 that's the only way to get alerts of road closures, assuming the receiver actually works in Asheville.
So, in short, either the map has a tile error or the GPS itself is the culprit. I'm leaning towards the device, as my own map simulations on my DS76 didn't result in any issues like what he encountered.

Highway avoidance setting.
This is probably a long shot but worth checking ... make sure that the highway avoidance setting for routing didn't somehow get accidentally set to on.

Yes - that is correct.
Yes - that is correct. Asheville is the metro city in reference. For the past several years now, I typically (after a map update or a JCV update for certain) position the virtual vehicle approximately 2 or 3 miles West of the I-40 / I-26 Interchange, then run a simulation heading East on I-40, allowing the vehicle to play-out its route to its assigned destination ("Asheville Eye Associates" 8 Medical Park Dr.). Typically the route would or should've taken a direct Interstate route, under the 40/26 overpass and continue on I-40 East to the next Exit.
That's true; however, would
That's true; however, would a Live or Real-time traffic function (i.e. "construction" notification) provide a warning announcement in simulation mode? Interesting.
Good point. I did check to
Good point. I did check to make sure the Fastest route was activated vs the Shortest Distance. It all checked out but I will check the Avoidance setting just to make sure.
Could Not Duplicate Your Route
I ran a simulation like you described, and it took me along the Interstate route until the end. Yes, the Live Traffic alerted me about the construction zone but also reported that it was the fastest route.
If you already checked your settings, I would try to reinstall the map. I doubt the issue is Windows 11 or Garmin Express.

Mostly smooth
My nuvi 2557LMT's issue where it doesn't update (meaning garmin express applies the update, tells me to reboot the gps and then after reboot it's like nothing happened), finally biting me where I can't proceed with a map update with the other traffic/language files.
