Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive .
This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.
My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.
With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.
The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

GPS made the trip so easy. I remember growing up and my dad always messing with the maps, and missing the turns.
Slightly disappointed
In the middle of our 5000 mile trip from FL up thru the Canadian Maritimes etc, etc.
Had a good deal of GPS confusion when navigating to/from various places on PEI and in Nova Scotia - especially in the vicinity of Peggy's Cove and in the Lunenburg/Mahone Bay area.
Finish up in Canada on Monday. Let's see if things improve for the next 1 1/2 days.
BTW - I do have the latest maps and software updates.

Incorrect directions
These are typically small roads, even tho they are numbered roads.
The GPS would tell me to take such-such turn - I would take it but in a short distance determine it was incorrect and turn around. Even then it would send me astray in another direction.
Several times I had to stop the routing and start the route again from scratch - "Reinstall" the desired location I wanted to get to. Then the GPS would seem to get the right routing.
It wasn't as if I had put in the wrong address because all I did in reinstalling the location was to punch the same location in the "Recently Found" folder.
Some of the map info also seemed to be years out of date - areas where the road layout had obviously been
altered but certainly was not in the past 5 years as determined by new vegetation size in the previous layout of the road.

We went to Pella, IA on Saturday. I wanted to drive on paved scenic roads. As expected, Jill did not want to go that way. A surprise was that Jill wanted me to turn onto gravel roads even though I had checked, "NoNo." And on occasion she wanted me to U turn even when I was headed the general direction of my destination.. On the return trip, Jill figured out very quickly my intended route.

travelled to michigan from pittsburgh pa (and before that from germantown md). my uncle told me that his tomtom and gps on his phone will suffice. i wanted to use my garmin 765t.. lets just say those two gps he had were either missing signs or were off on the turns. it also sucked that it didnt use TTS. garmin ftw. what a stressful trip.

Texas to Branson
Traveled to Branson MO to visit friend who retired there. Coming from Texas where we are in a need rain to an area where the lakes and rivers are filled to overflowing was a shock. If only there was a way to send the excess water to the areas that need it (TX, AZ, NM). Great trip and flawless GPS performance.

50th High School Reunion
My Garmin nuvi 1490t stays in my Tahoe all the time, mounted just below the control head for my Kenwood D710 VHF/UHF Ham Radio. Both are on the same direct to battery circuit with a kill switch. I use it driving around the Houston area and most recently on a road trip back to Washington, MO for my 50th HS reunion. It helped maneuver a long detour around a flooded section of I-40 between Little Rock and Memphis. We also stopped overnight in Joplin, at a Hampton Inn on the south edge of the tornado path, about two weeks before the storm.

Been there and done it
My Son and I did a vacation on PEI about 4 years ago. We did some geocaching and used a handheld, a 650, and his laptop with Delorme on it. There was some funky routing. The GPS had us on a road that was shown in delorme and on the GPS but it was more like a tractor path in a field. We had a number of them. But we trudged on along and had a great time. There were some of what you ran in to also.

Going Medeival
Took myself and the GPS to the Eminence (KY) Ren Faire, had a wonderful time--CoPilot Live was very well behaved other than on a small stretch of very new road (new enough that no maps--from "standalone GPS" maps to CoPilot Live to Google Maps--covers it just yet), and that'll get fixed in time.

Wrong way...
So we used our new Garmin (with the new maps)to go to and address in Newburyport, MA.
It was taking us to a major bridge that has been under
repair for quite some time. We saw the Detour signs, but for the heck of it I clicked Detour, and it kept trying to get us back to roads that would take us over that bridge.
We ended up following the actual detour signs and got to our destination.
Note:
Three other people that were coming to that address two had their GPS take them right to the house avoiding the detour. One had a Garmin, one had a built in, the other had a Garmin that performed the same as mine. Odd.
