Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive smile.

This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.

My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.

With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.

The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

Getting ready - 3 weeks

Just finished planning our upcoming 3750 mile trip from Flor-i-duh to NH, ME, NY, Quebec and back home. All reservations made and routing complete with the aid of MS Streets & Trips and Mapsource. Will update Custom POI's on my 1490 and 260 a few days before we leave.

Gasoline now about $.30-.35 a gallon cheaper than on the 5500 mile trip we took in May/June. Will make a difference of about $50 in gas costs. My motel chain offering all kinds of incentives for stays over the next month so making out in that respect to.

Primary reason for trip is to attend my SO's daughters wedding in Maine but the timing makes it that I can be in NH for my youngest daughters fairly major surgery and my youngest son's 40th B'day.

And away we go >>>>>>>>>> !!!!!!!!

Friday

Happy Friday.

Doing a NYC to N. Myrtle Beach trip tommorow morning.

My son-in-law...

and daughter, and their two "rug rats" just returned from 2 weeks driving from Baltimore to Ga. I gave her a 350 2-3 years ago, and she said the thing is worth it's weight in gold!!! (I've still got my original, and don't want to give it up) I have kept the firmware and the POI's updated, but the street maps are 2-3 yrars old. She told me that it was still of great help...now she loves Garmin again!

Old GPS'r with new Nuvi 1390 LMT

I've only seen one lane preview and it disappeared by the time I noticed it. LA works good. And this was in Atlanta.

July 4th long weekend to Columbia, SC from Tallahasse and back. Guess what, there is no easy way to get there from Talli. Took me through rural Georgia but led me down a couple of closed roads that used to go somewhere. Had to use my common sense to get going again. My old C320 didn't mess up that bad. As soon as I get a new battery for it I want to try them out together.

The Nuvi's nice though. Talks to me. I use it locally to get my ETA mostly, especially to work smile . Although if I have to go anywhere in Talli I use it as I am not that familiar with the town.

Input of coordinates is nice, the C320 didn't do that. I moved my POIs over from the C320 with no problem. I look forward to downloading some files from the POI Factory.

Thanks for being here.

Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Welcome, Wade in NW Floeida!

GPS Brain Fart

Decided to take a trip up to the Calaveras Big Trees and I guess I was lucky to have known the area. Started off and dear GPS directed me north on Cal 88 49 miles to Cal 4. Nothing is perfect I guess, Cal 4 was in fact 10 miles south. Rebooted, and Caltrans moved Cal 4 back to where it belonged.

Looking forward to this week

Happy Monday

last trip

Last trip was to Green Bay, Wisconsin. Great weather and a nice ride!

My last trip was yesterday

My last trip was yesterday to a convent in Fremont, CA. It was tucked away from the street address and had to drive down a long driveway to reach it. Thank you Garmin!!

On a trip now

We are on a trip now from TN to the shores of Lake Superior and a circle drive around the lake. The Garmin has taken us to many beautiful places. We won't leave home to go on a trip without it.

Harney Peak

Last saturday I used my Etrex Venture HC during a hike in the Black Hills of SD from Sylvan Lake to Harney Peak.

It is about 6 miles round trip with elevation change of about 1100 feet. The scenic views during the hike are fantastic.

From the old fire watch tower at the peak you can see Ellsworth AFB which is over 28 miles away.

LOUISIANA

Will be going to Louisiana next week to visit family and do a little gambling. Gps and Jill is coming with me and also my wife.

Costco and Back

Smooth traveling to the local Costco and back home. No major traffic to speak of and the Google Navigation worked without a hitch. Quite hot out by the way, so the lack of a traffic backup was especially appreciated.

Daily use

Believe it or not I use my GPS daily traveling to the office and back. Not that I get lost without it. My 1490 shows bunch of info like speed, time, traffic, estimated arrival time etc. Just can't live without it.

Summer trip

To the beach and other shore points.

Jersey Shore Trip

I'll be heading up to the Jersey Shore from Florida for a vacation next week. I will be driving a rental car from Newark down to the shore and will be traveling to quite a few locales I've never been to before along the shore and around northeast Jersey.

I'm looking forward to all the POI spots and help I've derived from this forum.

Thanks to all.

I use mine every day. It keeps me up to date on arrival times to my destinations

I-95 South/North

Trekked down I95 through Harford County past Baltimore and back with the support of the Google navigation app. No traffic issues impacted us and a pleasant day weather wise, however there was significant traffic accident on the Southbound side that must have just occurred right before we passed going North. No indication of traffic on the Google navigator for 10 minutes or so afterwards. Not sure what is typical, but obviously quicker notifications are always helpful.

Myrtle Beach Vacation over today

Nuvi 765T w/latest maps & firmware GPS routed me back to NYC: 17 to I40 to 117 to I795 to I95, etc.
Hit a 3 hour construction delay in Virginia (I95 mile marker 35 to 40 approx).

Vancouver, BC

Down to see my bud and his kid. Tons of new -style junction views, and the traffic on the nuvi was spot on.

A great weekend except for all the rain!
