Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive smile.

This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.

My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.

With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.

The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

Two weekends in a row

To visit our son in college. Both times the 1490T issued false alarms about traffic on the route somewhere on I80, but then cleared up. Strange.

Yes...

these things do some strange things. I might have mentioned this earlier but, mine took me on a beautiful "side trip" through Santa Barbara on my way back down to San Diego from Redding CA. Not that it wasn't beautiful, or we didn't have the time, just a surprise...still love'em though. They're still more right than wrong!

"Backward, turn backward, oh time in your flight, make me a child again, just for tonight."

Hooray

I'm about to give my nuvi a rare chance to show me "traffic" reports since I'm about to drive through Phoenix and Tucson. It's so rare that I get the chance to experience traffic. Then again, I'll also give the nuvi's new map a chance to offer me any new Junction Views as well as to test out the latest Factory's Rest Areas, Redlight camera locations, etc., etc. in my 4.5-hr drive today.

Baltimore and Back

Did a I-96 south and back north run over the weekend. Used the Nuvi 760 and the Google Navigator Android app simultaneously as a comparison. Data reception was good on the cell and I had no issues (all travel was on or within 10 miles of I-95). No traffic issues were encountered, so I could not compare that functionality, but the directions and earlier notification of upcoming turns was close between the systems. Overall, I was pleased with both. Will continue the side-by-side comparisons where possible.

First Trip

About to depart on my first trip depending on my new Nuvi 1450. It will be San Antonio to Miami. Wish me luck!!

Up North

I just got back from a trip to Northern California last week to visit my 2-year-old grandchild Lexie who was in the ICU for viral encephalitis which started as stomach flu. She's doing better now but still in the ICU for a few more days I suppose. I hope and pray she fully recovers as soon as possible.

Don't need a GPS
