Watch for Garmin Express Updates

Last time there were a number of updates to Garmin Express just before the new map was released. I'm watching for that as a sign of the update coming out.

Gonna wait

I generally upgrade once a year in the spring to be ready for summer vacations, but my last upgrade took so long that I am thinking of skipping this one and doing a fall update.

I have yet to really notice much of anything worth the long upgrade times except larger and larger files sizes.

Hope it's better than the past few

I enjoy the new map update for the new road changes it shows. I just hope the traveling time part of the software is updated also to better judge times. Garmin seems to be getting worse and worse at estimating the travel time. Not because of traffic, but because they far under estimate how long it takes to get from point a to point b even if there isn't traffic. They seem to calculate it as if there are no stop signs and stop lights.

I agree, I am currently using a 2595LMT as my c340 no longer functions properly. The c340's estimate from the beginning of the trip was near perfect, maybe 1 minute off on a 300+ mile trip. The 2595LMT seems to be taking a random guess, and missing by a long shot.

I have 3 GPS's, the wife told me no more GPS purchases. I tried explaining to her about newer features on the recent models, but the answer is still no.

Haven't...

Haven't been able to leave the house for weeks, ever since this thread posted. After all, how will I be able to navigate with an old map? What if I got lost, even just a few blocks from the house where the world turns mysterious and navigation landmarks are uncertain? Which way is North and what does that mean anyways when you can't see it?

I Find it much easier to check here if an update is available for Garmin. I like to wait to read the posts of those who installed it before I download to see what worked better.

I sure hope they fix Garmin Express for this update it still wants me to update the maps I already have installed, I've herd about how it updates the files you already have and corrupts them and then your in deep doo, it will let me grey out the updates but they don't go away

If your still using Lifetime Map Updater, going to Garmin Express is probably an upgrade. grin On the other hand Garmin's MapUpdater program is still working fine for most of us.

Garjmin Express

Loaded on computer today. SD card with Garmin directory, but no maps inserted... It found the Garmin Serial number, but brought up the 2013.40 map update, not the 2014.10 map update..

http://forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php?t=17527 has very accurate predictions but needs to check his calendar carefully; May 14 is Tuesday not Wednesday. Hopefully May 15; the maps will be released..

I never do the update just before a trip. Want to have time to fix anything just incase something goes wrong.
