New update of Google Earth
I just noticed that Google Earth was updated on my laptop today at about 5 p.m. EDT. No heads-up, just got downloaded. The new version is 7.3.3.7699 (I don't know what the old version was). With absolutely no scientific research on my part, my only observation is that it seems quicker. From double click on its icon, it's up and ready in three seconds.

All Terrain Vehicle/Off Highway Vehicle Trail Maps
Now that will be using my Garmin Nuvi 500 on my GPS, it is time to look around for some suitable maps to download. Certainly, I can Google it and get lots of information, but I am looking for some guidance from my fellow members here.
I am most interested in ATV/OHV trail maps. Garmin City Navigator is great for highways, roads and streets, but most ATV/OHV trails don't show up on CN.

PDF now available
This is in another thread I created, but I thought some may have missed the posting:
I used MS Word to create a PDF file of the lengthy instructions and Jonathan figured out to create a download link to the file.
You can now click on the link at the top of the page and once the PDF appears, right click on the page and select "Print" in the dropdown. Or you can do a "Save as".

This week we're recognizing, Charlesd45!
Charlesd45 has been a member of POI Factory for nearly 13 years.
Ken in Regina recommended Charlesd45 be the COW this week for an FAQ he maintains and since it's been nearly 8 mos since he was last in the pasture, I took Ken in Regina's suggestion.
Thanks for all of your contributions, Charlesd45!

Recommending Contributor of the Week?
This isn't really about a contributor of the week, actually. It's contribution in general. First I would like to acknowledge the POI Factory and it's contributors just for being here, for being who you are, and for sharing. Whether it's a little or a lot it all helps someone out.

Banking: unexpected customer service, and lack thereof
Two different outcomes.
Scenario 1, I know that the prime rate dropped in March, significantly. I do not have a mortgage on our house, but I have a variable rate heloc. So it was April 28, and I see my rate is still 4% (prime minus 0.75% is the rate). It should be 2.5%, as the last change was 3/18.

Pruis Gen 4 Wiring Question
This is a bit off-topic, but since it relates to travel, I thought I would post to see if I can get an answer.
Does anyone know how to run a power cable from the passenger compartment to the 12V battery on a Gen 4 Prius?

Wear Your Mask ... The Urine Test
This meme has been floating around in the ether the past few days, but I don't think it has been posted here. I thought about putting it in the joke thread but not sure it belongs there, so I put it here in the open talk.
If you haven't run across this yet, take a look. You will probably enjoy it regardless of which side of the mask wearing controversy you are on.

Solid State drives
I mentioned yesterday (May 4, 2020) in the COW awards thread that I got a new 1TB Solid State Drive (SSD) the same day as my COW award. I got the SSD as a backup drive as my External Backup drive was taking hours to backup my C: drive which contains 141 GB. I also have an E: drive containing 190 GB of data which is mostly pictures and Genealogy stuff.

Instructions for an orderly POI file for quick and easy editing
Since I am hunkered down at home (retired and at high risk for Corona virus complications), I decided to take a break from my genealogy research. This is my 2nd FAQ in a week.

have you managed to get something done you've been wanting to, lately?
I was able to put the timeline together based on paperwork.
Our side spray had stopped working in the kitchen, so I called Kohler, and they sent me a diverter and side spray. I installed the new side spray, and it didn't work. I guess that was 2015.

Expert advise needed (Using Bluetooth headset w/ GPS)
hello, I'm hoping that I can hook up a GPS that can use a Bluetooth headset for talking to the GPS or make a call through it with my phone. I see that the Drive Smart line (I have 3 Nuvi's) allows making calls but I haven't seen that a headset can be used.
Any good advise?
Jim
