Welcome / open talk

Happy New Year and are you making a resolution?

Almost time for a new year. Most that make resolutions falter but even so it's interesting to hear what people plan to do in the new year to improve themselves.

Merry Christmas

I want to wish all of the kind folks on here a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope that you all have a safe and happy holiday season.

The SECURE Act - Change in RMD (Required Minimum Distribution)

The SECURE Act has made a major change to the Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) rules. Instead of having the required beginning age for RMDs set at 70.5 (or when retired, if later) it has been pushed to age 72.

Watch Out Taking Out the Recycling

My cousin, who is 8 years older than me and lives alone, broke his patella (kneecap) while taking out the recycling.

Lessons learned:

When we are taking a trip with the GPS, we go out fully equipped, but for a short trip for the recycling we are not ready.

It's dark in the evening this time of year; turn the lights on and put your glasses on. Wear shoes, not slippers.

Pearl Harbor Day

On December 7, 1941, the Japanese did a sneak attack on the United States armed forces in Pearl Harbor, HI. This led the United States into declaring war on Japan and entered the country into World War II. Today is a day to remember and honor the many armed forces personnel and citizens who were killed in this attack.

Bye bye, Flash

"Saying goodbye to Flash in Chrome" was the message that greeted me this morning when I opened the Chrome browser. The article went on to say that by the end of 2020 Adobe will phase out Flash altogether. Chrome will phase it out sometime before then.

GPS III is Coming

The GPS III satellite system is currently being deployed with 2 satellites already in orbit and 10 more scheduled to launch this year. The GPS III system is scheduled to be fully operable by 2024.

see if I can describe this correctly / process improvement

I think that a lot is broken, such as healthcare.

Say my son has some rash and he's 5. Go to a specialist.

There are no doctors and there are no plans that they would have one look at him.

See a nurse. Says to use Aveeno. Charge is $479.

At any holiday party in my wife's bff group there are always 3-4 nurses. Any one of them could have looked, and said, use Aveeno.

Keeping The Windmill Alive - Your Last Trip? – December 2019

In danger of losing your windmill?

Maybe you can share the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you used it to seek out special places to go (like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.).

Anything to keep your windmill alive.
