Garmin talk

Does anybody know if POI factory files (or any other POI files) can be used with a Garmin GPS 18? I've searched the internet and this forum and have come up empty handed. Thanks!

i just bought a nuvi 650... I did not buy an AC adpater to charge the battery (yet). I have it plugged into my PC via USB. DOes this recharge the battery?

I find my Garmin nuvi 250 very inaccurate when finding geo points.
Is there any way to make it more accurate?

Can I download more english voices for my Garmin nuvi 250 ?

I downloaded Interstate rest areas (*.csv files). When I put them into my C330 (POI loader) will they show up on my route? If not what do I need to do?

Is there any way to acknowledge the alert on a NUVI 660 of a POI so that it would stop beeping at you?

A lot of of malcontent over at GPSPassion. Folks are not happy at all that Garmin has introduced a new line with little more than software features we have been screaming for in the 6xx series, essentially discarding us who have the 6xx now.

I was thinking MSN has the movie listings on the GPS but that doesn't really help out that much in selecting moview and it is a lot of data to download. How about if they also had the listings from: www.movies.that.dont.suck.com

I fell little uneasy while using default keyboard layout of Garmin (Sequential alphebets). Is there any means to upgrade/modify that into QWERTY layout?

Has anyone tried the MapSource US Topo maps on a nuvi. Curious to know if it can be used as a map supplement and if the topo shows over the road map.

On my StreetPilot 2730, there are three or four ranges of frequencies that are skipped whenever I try to match the FM transmitter to the radio station. For example, if I set my car radio to 104.7 (an open station in my area), and then try to set the FM transmitter to 104.7, it skips from 104.5 to 105.3. Does anyone else have this problem?

I purchased my StreetPilot 2730 in Dec '06, but was disappointed that the maps do not have county borders, unlike MS Streets and Trips. Is this a feature that will be added in later editions?

For anybody that has had a Nuvi stolen, there is a locked Nuvi for sale on Ebay. I can't get to Ebay from here at work since our proxy blocks auction sites, but you might want to check and see if there are any pics that show the serial number. Alternatively, you could email the seller for the serial number (but it seems that would be somewhat of a tip off).

I purchased a c340 a few months ago, BTW I really like it. I did not buy a more expensive unit because I also own a GPS II plus that I use on my boat and for hiking/camping etc.. I have owned it for ~10 yrs... Give or take a year or so.... But, comparing the two units, there are a few things I really would like to see on my C340:

i was looking at going hiking and i was trying to find a downloadable trail maps for my garmin etrex legend Cx and if they are actually able to be naved through i have heard that some downloaded ones cant be used a a nav map

My unit is a Garmin 276C v.500. I have added several Custom waypoints in the prescribed manner (I believe) and used them when creating a mapset on my PC.

They appear correct on my PC display, but when transferred to my GPS, they just don't make the trip, replaced with something more generic than normal.

I've noticed another splash screen that appears when you pass a POI and you are not looking at the map. I've noticed it for cameras and it displays full screen. It is just a plain gray screen saying camera alert, can the screen be modified?
