Nuvi 680 MSN Receiver Update to v. 2.30

Firmware update for MSN Direct Receiver to software version 2.30. Not sure what it does, but any improvement is welcomed.

Congrats to Keith for his new Nuvi 750. Awesome!

New NUVI

I have the NUVI 680 relativelly new. Any really good reason to upgrade to the 700 series??

MSN Update is worth it

The updates gave a considerable improvement in data update time. So much so that data that I never received actually now shows up. Go to garmin's site and down load it.

As far as the 700 series goes, it has routing capabilities and other enhancements the 600 users were asking for on the 600. Looks like Garmin decided to take our suggestions for the 600 and 300 series and built them into the 700 series series. However, it remains to be seen that they actually corrected some of the crappy computer interface issues with the 300 & 600 series.

If you have unlimited funds and want to reward them for secrwing over 300 & 600 customers then by all means go for it!

The updates seem to help, a little

I am pretty sure that I can see a difference, but it is small. I will take any improvement. For 3 days now, I seem to get data sooner. Even though detail on traffic delays takes a while to get, the alert letting me know there is a problem ahead comes up sooner. Worth the update.
Thanks Garmin. Keep up the good work.

6xx vs 7xx

From what I can see, the most interesting features about the 700 series is that they all can take either FM traffic or MSN traffic. Since I bought my 660 because of the traffic, I'm sorry I didn't wait for the 700 series. I am fairly disappointed with the NYC traffic info on FM. Maybe I'll wait to see how the Dash express develops.

MSN Direct update to 2.30

Today I received a note screen on my unit that a new version of MSN direct was available. When I got home, I checked thru WebUpdater and no MSN direct update was shown. I'm thinking that I might already have the update, but I don;t see anyway to check what the version of MSN Direct that I have installed. Anyone know how to check the version? Also, is the update only available thru WebUdater? I checked Garmin website but could find no info on MSN Direct update support.

Same notice

I got the same note on the screen this morning. However there is no update available through Webupdater when I connected the receiver. If there is any update, it should be something other than 2.30 which was released in August.

me too

I received the same message. I also have updated using the web updater on a friday a few weeks ago.
