Changing Registration

I want to buy a Nuvi 750 but my wife insists that I sell my 350 does anybody know if it is possible to tranfer the product registration to a new owner?

Update: Just spoke to Garmin and it is possible to transfer Registration and warranty to a new party. While the TVNAV.com site never discloses that it is a pre-order anywhere I could find, the Garmin Tech I spoke too said they have not shipped any 750 units yet and was pretty cagey when I asked when they were going to ship.

My wife was the same way

My wife was the same way (about having two devices). I have my 350 for sale now, and am sure that it will go pretty quick (VERY reasonable price). When I pre-ordered my 750 at TVNAV.com, it was stated as a pre-order. I ordered a couple weeks ago, and my credit card has not been billed, so I'm sure that they bill upon shipping (good company practice). Garmin has stated 4th Qtr of 07, so I'm assuming that will be beginning of next month (or thereabouts). The 350 has been a superb unit, and I can only hope that the 750 is as good. I know of someone that has a 750 (for testing), and (as an electrical engineer) he is favorably impressed with the unit. If you do not currently have Mapsource, e-mail Garmin to get a copy (they might charge you S/H for the DVD). That will allow you to avail yourself of the routing capability of the 750. Waiting now for them to put the users manual on their web site so that I can become familiar with the unit before I get it..........

Cheers.......... Joel

Mine On The Way Too

Took me one phone call to a friend to sell my 350, ordered my 750 10 minutes later got the Unit, new friction mount and 2 day shipping for $509.54, and they say that it should be the end of this month but no promises.

PS my buddy let me keep my 350 until my new one arrives, even though I told him it maybe the end of Oct. what a pal!!!!

sweet deal

what'd you get for your 350!? (pardon my asking)

Nice of your friend! I'm anxious to hear what you all think of the 750, I held off on a belated 6xx upgrade, but the temptation gets greater with the newer series...

Good Friend

I sold my 350 for $300 it was only 6 mos. old I gave him a good price b/c he is going to be taking my two dogs for the month I will be in New Zealand during the x-mas holidays (my next big expenditure is to be City Nav for NZ-$320 for SD card, ouch!!!)

Nuvi 7XX (pre-order)

I have purchased many things from TVNAV. They are great to work with!

Good Price

I'm only asking $275 - but haven't had any takers. I honestly thought it would sell VERY quick, cause it is like new and has the 2008 mapset on it. I don't want to bother with E-Bay, so guess I'll just have to hang on to it........

Some stores let you trade in

Some stores let you trade in your old one if you purchased a warranty for it.
Circuit City does this.

Friends & Family

That is a good price and makes me think I might cut a better deal to my friend. You should offer your GPS to friends and family these are very popular little devices might be suprised how quick they will buy, especially if you sit and show them what it can do.

Long Wait

Just got off the phone with Garmin on an unrelated matter, but asked about ship dates on the 7xx series and they said as of their meeting this morning they will not ship until the end of OCT. The first units have not yet shipped from Taiwan. Hopefully this is a pessemistic date so they can look good by getting them out sooner.

Personally, I thought it was a steal. My wife happens to be one of those people who believes that you don't sell to family - you just GIVE it to them. My son-in-law drives around Atlanta a lot, so when I'm tired of it laying around collecting dust, I'll probably give in and give it to him. The $300 price for a 6-month old unit is VERY reasonable. Mine is like new, but over a year old (and out of warranty). I still think that $275 is a reasonable price for it..........

Looking to Sell a C340

I have a C340 in perfect condition. Can someone let me know how much to sell it for? Also, what is the best way to sell it (never done ebay).
thx,
Jen

Amazon sells new C340 for $250.

Since you can get a new C340 for only $250, a used one may be worth only about $200.

New Zealand Maps

Before you spend that kind of money for the City Nav maps, you may want to check out the New Zealand open source maps project which has routable Garmin-compatible maps for free.

http://gwprojects.orcon.net.nz/gps/

There's some question about them working with the Nuvi line, but it's mostly that no one there has tried, and it's worth a look before spending so much on the commercial ones.

Open Source

Thanks for the NZ map info. I am a cautious kinda guy and am weighing the cost of Garmins maps v the chance of making my brand new $500 dollar GPSr inoperable. I am going to open this topic in a new thread b/c I think it is a worth topic for those with far more knowledge than I.

Selling Used Devices

Jen,

GPScity.com has a forum which allows the sale of used equipment. Thought that was rather nice of them since they are a retailer for new devices. Register on their forum, put the item up for sale and see if you get any hits on it.
