No Talk, Just "Bing!"?

Hi Folks!

Just got my Nuvi 360 on Friday, and have been playing with it all weekend. Already have some custom POI's loaded (BIG thanks to those posting them!).

Question: Is there any way to (sometimes) get the Nuvi to not speak at all, just "Bing!" when I need to direct my attention to it? I talk with customers on the phone while driving, and having the voice blaring in the background will be distracting. I don't want to mute the unit, then I'll miss everything!

Also, any way to limit the number/frequency of alerts?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

Solved Part I

Well, I was playing around with the unit this evening and stumbled upon the menu setting. Not as simple as a single-button press, but still easy to do when needed. Sorry to waste the bandwidth.

I assume the answer to part 2 above is a "no," though?

Sort of...

Can sort of limit the number of alerts. I'm assuming that when you found the answer, that you determined that you were to turn on TourGuide mode and Autoplay. You can change that setting to Once, and that will make sure the sound only goes through one time.

In terms of the "Bing" tone, I don't know.

Limit alerts

about the only thing you can do to limit the alerts ...

- tap the wrench
- tap 'navigation'
- tap 'Guidance/Status' under Voice Prompts
- select 'Guidance Only'

this will turn off all status alerts.

Never mind, I missed the part about you not wanting to use the mute function. It doesn't seem to be anything in the Nuvi that will allow you to do what you're asking for.
