Transfer data from SD Card

Since I put some custom POIs and the 2008 Canadian maps on my 2gb SD Card, my C530 asks me the same question everytime I power it up: "New Extra data found on card. Would you like to install this data so that it will be available if the card is removed?"

Is there a way to get rid of that annoying question? I always leave my SD Card in therefore I always answer No.

yes.

The unlikely answer is to say "Yes" ... which will then give you another menu. One of the options on there is "Skip this file" (or similar); if you choose that, it won't prompt again unless the file changes.

Warning

Thank you very much, Phil. I tried your suggestion and it works very well.

Let's talk about another annoying question now. How do you get rid of the Warning screen that comes up when I power up the unit. You normally have to click on "Agree". I know that the message eventually disappears by itself but it would be nice NOT TO have the message at all.

Any suggestions?

Jean

That would require a firmware patch...not beyond the wit of man, but no-one's managed it yet.

What we need is a tame Garmin employee, who can share some info. with us -- like how to re-calculate the checksums etc, so that any patched firmware will get loaded. Then we could have a play smile

Go To Map

I would like an option to have the display go directly to the map after the warning instead of the main menu.

That is really required by some sort of consumer law. Itrs designed to hold harmless Garmin for our stupidity... messing with the GPS while driving.

I just ignore the screen and it goes away generally berfore I have even acquired my satellite signal.
