Garmin talk

I listen to podcasts on my 660. The process I use is to first copy the podcasts from itunes on to the SD card. Then I use Winamp to create an m3u playlist file. This works well but it takes a long time. Does anyone have a suggestion for how to get podcasts off itunes into playlists in one step? Itunes playlists do not work with Garmin.

I am planning to go to Italy this Spring and am interested in recommendations on street maps. I have a Garmin 660. Is it best to buy a product from Garmin or are there other, better and/or less expensive, sources for street maps covering Italy.

Is there a SD Memory Card size limitation on the Garmin 650?
I should get my 650 in the mail on Tuesday so I was just wondering before i purchase the memory card.

Is there anyway to create a route using MS Streets&Trips on a PC and then download the route to a 2720? Much like Mapsoure does but S&T does it much better, IMO.

Nuvi 260 -- certain POI files, especially those offering multiple formats for download, cause the POI Loader to complain about "data error in line 1." After loading the GPS shows the headers for those files (I use the directory structure to create categories and subcategories), but no data.

I need some help, if I may. I have a Zune and not an iPod. How do you transfer music to a memory card and convert to mp3?

I downloaded songs onto a disc, then transferred then onto the 1gb memory card. I made a folder called Music. Then I made sub-folders called Music1, Music2, Music3, an Music4.

When I plug the memory card into the 760, it says it is looking for mp3 files.

Hi, On the c530 is there a limit on how many POI catagories you can have? The reason I ask is that I have 31 now and it seems that sometimes the last one does not show up on the list but if I spelled it out it showed up. So I know they are there but if I continue to add more catagories will they show up on the list? Thanks!

Is there anyway to add a street to a garmin Nuvi 660. I have one street that I use but shows as a dead end on my unit, and I would like to extend the street to reflect reality.

Just doing some reading on the Garmin site about the new 800 series, those are going to be so nice, to bad i just got a Nuvi 650, You tell it where you want to go and it tells you how to get there.

I downloaded the "Rest Stop" POI file, and loaded it into my Garmin 350. I checked and the closest one was 12 miles north on I-95 in Florida. I loaded it using the POI Loader using the Express (Recommended) option. The POI file readme seemed to imply that proximity alerting is on by default. But when I drove by the rest stop on my way home, there was no indication whatsoever.

Hello all... I am new to this.. can someone help assist me in finding the POI's i just loaded on to my SD card and then my nuvi?// I check the extra's and nothing is appearing after it told me i had 739 new poi's loaded after I used the loader program...help!!

For those with a Nuvi, have you found working with custom POIs to be better than using Favorites? or vice-versa?

IMO, Favorites takes less "clicks", but has no real categorization. Custom POIs support categories, but require a bit more digging to get to. Custom POIs also have the advantage of easy PC-based maintenance (although Favorites can be played with, too, to some degree)

Hi, On my Garmin c530 when I look at my POI and Favorites I see the mileage to that location to the right of the POI. What is bothering me is that it seems that the mileage that is listed there is incorrect. For example I had a loaction from me that I know was 29 miles away but it said 21 miles. When I actually take the route it takes me there correctly with the correct mileage.

I am not clear how to load individual POI files to my N650. I loaded one test POI file via a SD card - no problem. Then I tried again with two other files on a new SD card and it overwrote the existing POI file on my 650, replacing it with the 2 new files.

The 760 say's It automatically marks your position when you remove it from the windshield mount, so you can navigate with nüvi on foot and find your way back to your vehicle.
I cannot find anywhere in the manual the steps to follow to navigate back to the car.
Any help would be appreciated.

I just downloaded the Rest Area csv, mp3 and bmp files and installed on my c340. I don't see any POIs on the map unless I navigate to one. I would like to see all the rest areas (within reason) along the highway so I can determine when I want to stop ahead of time. Is this possible.

I have a low_clearance_safety.csv POI file that contains 312 low clearance locations. For testing I added my current location to the file. None of the locations is encoded with speed information. When loaded with POI loader manual mode and the length set to 5280 feet I get when driving down the freeway a two bell audio alert and a text video alert of the location at about 1 mile distance.

I'm not sure this is a device issue or a setting issue. I take my nuvi when I travel to visit clients. Once I am settled in the rental car, I turn my nuvi on to find that the time hasn't adjusted to the local time. Ideas? Thoughts? Tips?
