Unable to Uncheck Map Info
I recently installed the City Navigator North America NT 2009 Maps on my SD card, my Nuvi 350 displays them in Map Info along with the 2008 maps installed on the unit. Both are checked and I can unchedk the 2009 but not the 2008. Is it ok to run with both checked, will I be using up-to-date maps if both are checked or do I need to uncheck the 2008?

Nuvi freezes when booting up and a POI is nearby
If I'm in a parking lot with a POI nearby (i.e. Starbucks), and I start my car, which powers up my Nuvi, a lot of the time the Nuvi will freeze. I'll get a notification that a POI is nearby, then there is no additional response from the Nuvi. I'll have to reboot it.
Anyone else experience this? FYI, this is a Nuvi 770.

SDHC Card -POIs
I assume I must use the POI Loader to place POIs on a SD Card? If I have POIs loaded in the unit's memory also does the unit default to the card, the unit or both? If it uses both the unit memory and the SD card how does it effect the file structure. For example will I have two files labeled Fast Food.

question about POI files
I have a nuvi 650..how come every time I downloaded a new POI file, the old one is gone? We can only have 1 POI file in our extras? Can someone tell me? Thanks!

Garmin 265WT new user post
I just joined the Garmin family yesterday with the arrival of a new 265WT. I went over it's features with a friend who has a 260 and he told me about this site.
I'm not completely new to GPS though, I've had a Garmin Edge 205 for my bicycle for two years now, and a 2006 Lexus with nav. I've also used my Dad's hand held Magellan for years to mark hunting way points.

What do I need to create my routes in Nuvi 760
What would I need to create my routes in Nuvi 760. I believe I need Mapsource, which I insatlled on my pc but I don't have map CD. Will Garmin send me map CD? Are these two tools required or something else? I will appreciate your help.

For Mac Users
Just a note for all Mac users. Since the release of OS 10.5.6, WebUpdater will not work. I’ve talked with Garmin and they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. From what they say, UpDater still works fine on Windows. So hang tight, a fix is on the way.

Christmas Surprise from Garmin
Recently I purchased a map upgrade for one of my Garmin GPS's. BUT - the unit couldn't be recognized by the computer for some reason. So I called tech support and in the end they needed me to ship it to them to replace / repair. In any event, he told me it would come back with the new maps on it. That, by itself, is a nice surprise.

Data in Puerto Rico bad
Can anyone confirm or deny if the data on the maps for Puerto Rico are any good? I just went there for a short vacation and the amount of errors was amazing. The unit (nuvi 660 running 2009 maps form the SD card) hung up at one point and I had to reset it, which has never happened before. Because of that, I'm not completely sure where the problem is, the maps or the unit.

Nuvi friction mount
I have a Garmin 2720 friction mount that I would like to use with my Nuvi 680. Does anyone make a adapter that would allow this?

How to find latitude and longitude in Google maps
Not sure of this has been posted before but if you looking for an easy way to find Long and Lat while using google maps try this.
When the address you want to find latitude and longitude for is dead center, copy and paste this code into your browser bar:

NUVI 680 battery issues
I received a Garmin 680 last January and about two months ago I noticed when I ran it just on battery power alone it would only last 1 hour. I normally run it on the MSN/car cable power. I sent it in to Garmin and they sent a refurbished 680. I noticed it only lasts 3 hours on battery power. I've tried different charging techniques (computer, AC) but still get the same results.

Problem:
Two favorites created at one time.
Process:
1. Input an address
2. Tap "Show Map"
3. Tap "Save"
4. Tap in a name.
5. Tap "Done"
6. Tap "Okay"
7. Tap "Go"
Result:
1. A favorite with address and the name given to it.

Rest Stop POI Added
I followed the instructions on how to add the rest stops and walmart POIs, and the software told me it was successful. Now, how do I see those POIs on the garmin itself? Do I search for "walmart" or "rest stop" on the garmin POIs?
I wanted to see if the .bmp icons were uploaded and working as well. Thx.

Voice Commands on nuvi 265wt
I purchased a Nuvi 265wt a few weeks ago, the speaker is kinda weak and trembles a lot when announcing the voice commands. At times the commands are barely understandable, is there a way to improve'em ?

POI alert sounds twice
i use nuvi 760 firm ware 4.2
when i have two POIs near each other i have the first poi sound come up and as i get closer to the second poi i get it to sound, but then the first one repeats itself because i am stil within it's range
any solution to that ?
