its saving two favorites at the same time!

Garmin Nuvi 760 with
F/W 4.3
GPS SW version 2.80m

Problem:
Two favorites created at one time.

Process:
1. Input an address
2. Tap "Show Map"
3. Tap "Save"
4. Tap in a name.
5. Tap "Done"
6. Tap "Okay"
7. Tap "Go"

Result:
1. A favorite with address and the name given to it.
2. A favorite without address and a "00X" name (in other words, no name given). But at the same location as other favorite.

Comments:

I'm starting to seriously wonder if this thing is adaptive!

Last week, I avoided a street that I knew was slower in general, and the unit never gave it to me as part of any route. But the moment I used that street because it was at the time the "better choice", the unit gave me that street as part of the next route in that direction. I just passed it off as coincidence since I hadn't traveled in in that spot since getting this unit (I was previously using a SP c550 which gave me that street when it was in fact a "worse choice").

And earlier this week I was saving addresses that I inputted. But because the GPS was marking a location that wasn't at the correct spot, I would then create a favorite of the current location (when I'm at the correct spot). The plan is to modify them in MapSource to keep the address of the incorrect favorite and change the coordinate to the correct location. So this double favorite issue looks a lot like what I was doing, except I had a name before the "00X." And of course, the "00X" is at the wrong location anyway.

I just ran though the unit retracing those steps I mentioned to see if the last step (tapping Go) is important... and suddenly I was getting SINGLE named favorite, but coordinates without the address!! But I think this has something to do with my loss of sat lock. Interestingly, even if I hit go with no sat lock, I only get one favorite.

Didn't happen on my 760.........

I have SW ver 4.2. I tried your example undocked. I think the 760 always saves your last location as a favorite when docked as 00x.
Did you enter the address docked or undocked?

Try it without "Show Map" first

When you browse the map, you can save the position of the pointer. I wonder if it's saving both your pointer position and your search location at the same time. Try it without using the Show Map option first to see if this is the case.

"show map"

it won't cause double favorites if I don't do "show map"... but the problem is... I need to look at the map to either make sure it's right or to get an idea of where I'm going, because I'm typically in a bit of a rush to get there... I do deliveries.

oh, it doesn't matter if it's docked or not, the bug popped up while i was driving and it was docked, I did the testing (to confirm) while undocked.

I tried it on mine and didn't have the problem

did you...

since you have 4.2 and not 4.3, I can only assume the "bug" got copied to the "when undocked" functions.

unless of course you get another issue instead... where it saves the coordinates in the favorite instead of address... which seems to happen around the time before sat lock
