When any of you updated your maps, did your personal POI's integrate with the new map update?

The POI's I have gained from this site i could easily replace after the upgrade. The personal ones.. what a pain that would be!

I have 2 questions:

I have several custom POI files including rest areas and combined campgrounds installed and in the POI folfder on the PC. If I activate alerts, do I get an alert for every GD campground we pass or can I just get rest area alerts? And how?

Once subscribed, how do you get the updates? Do they install directly into the GPS with Webupdater? Does MapSource update as well?

Hello, I have a couple of questions that maybe someone out there could answer for me. I am using a Garmin Nuvi 205W. I'm currently working on a project that involves creating detour points for a construction project. I was wondering if there was a way to have my POI's override the Goto function voice?

Anybody out there using Easy GPS with your Garmin?

I was looking for a way to back up my favorites and it seems to be able to fetch them from the GPS, let me modify them, and then put my updates back onto the GPS. It also seems to be able to merge in gpx files.

OK, you've probably addresses this many times. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do this.

I just upgraded to a Nuvi 255w at Best Buy. I loaded all my custom POI's onto a SD card in the new Nuvi 255w.
Now ever time I turn it on I get the splash screen "New extra data found on card. Would you like to install all ----------". Followed by "yes/No"
I hit "no" but still get the splash screen every time I turn the Nuvi 255w on.
How do I correct this?

i want to build a mapset in mapsource, a Colorado topo.
but when i build it it makes it a gdb file, i know how to get the file to the sd card, but it wont show up in the unit, could someone please list the steps on how to get this done!

New at this so I assume I am missing a step somewhere.

If I go to Garmin?Extras and the POI Factory, log in and then save the top file on the list--Rest Areas Combined (Version M)--it saves to my unit as a .CSV file which opens with Excell.

If I try and use Garmin's POI loader to load that I get an error with these key lines:

WIN_UTILITIES.CPP

Has anyone tried to load a different version of the Nuvi software to a different model GPS unit...aKa like using the Nuvi 5000 software on a Nuvi 200. I was wondering if it would work so that my GPS would have truck routing capability.

New guy so be patient. I downloaded and installed the Combined Rest Area POI file to my Nuvi 260. There are several POI categories for the pre-installed POIs, but I can't find the new ones. Should I have also downloaded an icon to make it work?

My MapSource shows that I have 2009, 2009.1, and 2010.1 ... Where do I go to uninstall the 2009 ones and can I uninstall them without affecting 2010.1?

Due to limited space I have on my laptop, I am planning to delete the Garmin folder. This folder was created when I did an 2010 MapUpdate. Inside of this folder are MapSource.exe and MapInstall.exe (alone with many xxx.dll files). What are they for? When I opened them it looks like I can install the states (instead of all 50) that I want. My manual didn't go a lot of detail about it.

Just a general question. If a person submits a file, can another person update it? It doesn't matter but over the past while I've had a couple files I submitted updated by someone other than myself. I guess I don't understand the process.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with the lifetime free traffic vs the paid clear channel traffic in Chicago? I know they have recently added sensors to a lot of county roads and routes but I can't figure out if there is much of a difference between the two traffic services since they don't provide a list of detailed coverage.
