Can't find the newly installed POI

New guy so be patient. I downloaded and installed the Combined Rest Area POI file to my Nuvi 260. There are several POI categories for the pre-installed POIs, but I can't find the new ones. Should I have also downloaded an icon to make it work?

If I want two sets of POIs, such as National Forest Campgrounds and Rest Areas, does downloading an icon with each let each set be called up separately?

Yes, I did check the FAQs, but am still confused. Thanks, Bill

It's in

the Extras folder under where do you want to go?

If you need more information let me know.

They should be in Where

They should be in Where to>Extras>Custom POIs (scroll down - it is a button - click on it). The 50 closest Rest Areas should show up. Use Spell for others or reposition your current location to desired locatiion using Simulation Mode.

Place all POI csv/gpx files in the same folder and re-run POI Loader. It erases old poi.gpi Custom POI file. POIs will show as file name minus extension on GPS. Select it and individual POIs will display.

You can add bmp icons, but it is not necessary. If you don't, you Custom POIs will show up as a grey dots. You have to be zoomed to 300' to see icons.

Your POIs are at: Where To,

Your POIs are at: Where To, Extras, Custom POI (or something close to that - I'm not at my GPS).

You don't need custom icons, although they look better and can differentiate types of POI.

If you want two sets of POI, put the two types in different files (National Forest Campgrounds.csv and Rest Areas.csv).

Searching built-in POIs is done completely separately from custom POIs. See http://www.poi-factory.com/node/21405 .

Organization is best explained by Motorcycle Mama in http://www.poi-factory.com/node/8674 . She provides visuals of how it will look, and yes, you can pull up files separately. Remember that all files must be loaded at once since POI Loader overwrites the previous custom POIs every time you run it.

Thanks for the quick and
