Garmin talk

I was shopping online today for the new Dodge Journey and I see that the new Dodges come with Garmin Navigation... was wondering if anyone knows weather you can upload POI's on to the system or if it is a closed system that cant be altered?
not that would sway my decision to or not to buy a Dodge just thought I would pose the question.

Whenever I connect my Nuvi 2598 to the usb cord to the pc it goes into usb mode. Is there a way to work on the unit at the same time?

I see Garmin Smartphone Link for iOS was updated today to version 2.0.1. I had to re-pair my Nuvi and iPhone. I think this thing still needs some work as it often doesn't automatically connect as it should. I'm hoping the new version improves that but so far I'm not that impressed.

So I am still using a 3490 (for now) and if I connect the unit to the PC via a regular USB-A Male to Micro USB Male, the 3490 goes into PC mode fine and I can read the files on the unit. However, I was connecting the 3490 to my Android tablet (while on the go) to try and edit some of the files on the 3490. I can do this only if I connect the above cable along with a USB-A female to Micro USB.

I'm try to decide if i should spend the money. After commenting here "node/45542" i noticed my 3590 was not receiving traffic anymore. I really didn't want to spend all that money on a GTM60 which i would never really get to use. 3D is limited to say the least.

I was wondering if someone could walk me through trying to add some icons from this site onto my GPS? OR better yet know of any youtube videos that could offer any assistance regarding this issue?

Can someone give us some direction in creating custom poi's with our Apples.
We find info for pc's but nothing for Apples.

The PC version of Garmin Express has a new version available; 4.1.13.0

Haven't found the change log yet so don't know what's changed.

Hi all, I have a new Garmin Nuvi 2797 that replaced my old Garmin Nuvi 765.
Can I transfer my old addresses to the new unit.

Garmin just released a new version for iOS. The graphics are totally different. I will test functionality this morning and report back. The update notes mentioned bug fixes. I tested it this morning going to work and it seemed to work fine. I mainly use it for live traffic. It stayed connected to my iPhone 6 with no issues.

Got a new 2797 and cannot get custom POI proximity alerts to work, Voice and standard built in alerts work fine. Audio and Alerts are turned on in unit. Changed mp3 files to wav. made sure names of wav files were identical to poi, no double extensions, sox.exe put in POI loader directory, Used Manual mode in Poi Loader and set it for Manual.Can't think of anything else Im missing.

I just received my refurbished Nuvi 2598 and want to make a back up. I'm using Firefox and Win. 10. How can I do this? Before I used IE but this is not the same. Thanks for your help.

Updated the firmware earlier this week. I used smartphone link on my iPhone for traffic one time. Today I tried using my HD Traffic will iPhone disconnected. Message under settings said Receiver Disconnected. It doesn't recognize my power plug as a valid traffic receiver. I believe 5.2 also updated somethings with traffic receiver. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I had created a route in basecamp and imported it into my nuvi 2595 which contained numerous locations for rest areas, gas stations, restaurants, and hotels along this route.
