Updating Nuvi 3597 problems

I downloaded and installed the latest version of GE...firmware updated, etc. Problem is the map 2016.20 will not install. I get the screen that says preparing unit for download and it just endless loops and never moves on. Any thoughts on resolving this issue?

okay...just saw

2017.10 is out and I am somewhat behind apparently...BTW...Windows 7, which is updated.

I had that problem before but

I don't know if you have the same problem or not. My problem is the Wifi. If I connect with Wifi on my laptop I have problem once in awhile and if I connected wired to my laptop and it is ok.

I'll have to try to load GE on the laptop and hook up a wire...we're all wifi here smile

Windows 7 x 64?

Start simple: Reboot the nuvi, not just sleep. Then reboot the PC.

Update should work on WiFi.

If it still doesn't work, delete the nuvi from GE and let it re-detect the nuvi.

A long shot: In GE settings, change "Proxy Server" from "auto to "off," if you are not using a proxy server, which most of us are not.

I did all three and the update finally went through...took 1.5 hours, including three red bar crashes but it worked smile

It is

WiFi is different to wired .... One uses a cable, the other doesn't smile

Having said that I have a wired desktop and a laptop that works over WiFi. Both work without issue.
