Garmin talk

My Nuvi somehow knows when to make the map dark and light depending on the time of day. I am assuming that's programmed into the software somewhere...?

I have a Nuvi 660 and I have downloaded the POI Installer and as far as I can figure out, I should be getting some speed alerts or proximity warnings... Am I missing something? Am I supposed to download something else?
Please help...

i got nt 2009 (upgrade) and installed fine. my old CN NT 2008 is still sucking up hard drive space tho. anyone know how to get rid of 2008 without affecting 2009 ??
actually ive got CS7 on there too (which 08 upgraded) so can i uninstall that too ?
its like 6 gigs just wasted with obsolete maps and garmin doesnt seem to have an overwrite feature in their crappy installers.

I am a truck driver and I bought a Garmin Nuvi 650 from Cosco. It worked good for Canada but when he started trips through US it couldn't show the right ways to destination. Most of the times when I was driving through a road it showed that there is road and it is calculating.

I recently inadvertently added over 1500 hotels to my favorites. Can I delete selected entrys without erasing all of the locations I have in there?

that came preloaded on my 360 and the City Navigator® North America NT 2009 Map Update that is currently available for download from Garmin?

The reason I ask is when I registered my replacement Nuvi 360 from Garmin, they said I was entitled to upgrade to new maps.

They even sent me an activation code for the updated map.

Do I need it?

i had about 100 POI's installed and they work fine. I recently divided them in folders for :fast food, restaurants, attractions.

I now notice it takes a long time, about 2 minutes, when i try to open the POI in my Garmin. Is this normal, or was it really faster when i had all my POI's together and not in the separate folders. Thank you in Advance

I just uploaded the camera files to my Garmin 660. Do I need to do anything to activate them or is it automatic. This is my first upload to my GPS. "NEW guy"

We'll be going on a two week photo safari in northern Arizona and southern Utah in the middle of January.

Some of the locations we want to photograph from are well off the paved roads. This shouldn't be a problem in our Jeep. I have set up a number of way points via Google Earth to get us to/from the locations we'll shoot from using my Nuvi 260.

Are the Multi-mode navigation receivers really usable in each mode? This sounds like something I can use. Are they worht it?

I have nuvi 350 and like to use the simulation mode to check out a route and alerts before driving it. However, the "speed" is very slow. Does anyone know if you can control the speed of the vehicle in simulation mode?

I downloaded and converted the Oregon State Parks .csv file into a .gpx. However, I receive an error in Mapsource telling me that it is an invalid file type when I try and open it, though other converted .gpx files open just fine.

any ideas?

I just started working with .csv files with the State Parks file and converted it to .gpx with GPXtoPOI. I would like to change the symbol and category of all the 4000+ locations efficiently, one step would be best.

can the red camera pois work on model dnx7120

My garmin nuvi 760 response is very slow after 4.10 firm ware update.

I have been creating my own POI files and am always looking at new things to do with my Nuvi 200W. When I turn my Nuvi on if I want to access my Custom POI files I have to go Where to? - Extras - Custom POIs - .... then I can see all my files. When I navigate to the Custome POIs button it makes it look like there is room for more options.

What else can I have here?

Does Garmin offer any type of calander application that we could run on a Nuvi? I have the Nuvi 200W and thought that a calander that shows an entire month would look really good on the wide-screen!

I just installed 4.6 on my Garmin 680. The GPS updates current position in large incremental steps instead of smoothly tracking my position. The step size is so large that at times I can be past an intersection while the GPS shows be still approaching it.

Anyone else experiencing this or know if I can get and reinstall version to 4.5.

Not like it's a big deal or anything, but I only noticed a week or 2 ago, as I get on the highway, my Nuvi 260, while in 3D mode at least, zooms out some. (Never tried in 2D.) When I get .6 miles from my exit, it starts zooming back in. I never read this in the manual or heard about it anywhere before.

I'm just curious as to the things that govern this effect.
