MSN Direct Receivers

Has anyone broken the end of their MSN Direct power cord while removing it from the 12 volt power plug?

not broken but...

I have never heard of the end "breaking off" though I have heard of instances where the retaining ring that screws onto the end (holding the fuse in) came loose causing the fuse and the spring/metal contact pin to come apart. A simple, common fix for this is to periodically tighten the retaining ring to prevent the unit from loosening up and eventually working itself apart.

Mine did!! Popped the top

Mine did!! Popped the top right off and the bottom was still threaded into the unit. I emailed Garmin and they sent me a new "Tip" kit. Give it a try.

My tip kit is on the way.

My tip kit is on the way. Ordered it from Garmin almost a week ago. When I talked to the customer rep, he said that it happens all the time due to people not pulling straight out on the adapter. The fit is so tight that turning while pulling causes it to break.

I'm sure that is how mine

I'm sure that is how mine broke. The plug in my car has dead spots, so I have to twist it till it makes contact.
