Wrong state when searching an address?

I have a Nuvi 260W and when I search an address it always comes up with Washington. I am in Oregon and it would make it much faster to do the search if it would default to Oregon rather than having to change it every time.
Is there a way to correct this?

I understand you when you go to a search for a address, instead of going to address, go to >Near and >a differnt city tnen when you find it you can back up to the screen for address. if you go to far it will go to state. Hope that helps.

I don't get that
I don't get that. My Nuvi 260 recognizes where I am and defaults to that state. If I key in a search for a different state, it holds that in the memory until I shut the unit down, then when rebooted it reverts to the current location. So I don't see how yours would be any different if it was working correctly.
