Garmin 2730 POI problem

I am having trouble downloading Custom POI's to my new Garmin 2730. Using the Garmin POILoader software, it sends the data to the unit successfully, but when I go to Custom POI screen on the GPS all I see is a bar for DELETE ALL under the Manage my custom POIs screen. Does not list the POI's that I just downloaded.

If I connect as a Mass Storage Device to the GPS, and look under the garmin subfolder, then poi subfolder, I can see a POI.gpi file.

I even renamed poi.gpi to Rest Areas.gpi and downloaded another file, but still can not see anything on the GPS.

Any ideas?

Not sure

I am not sure I understand where you are going when you see this command. Could you describe the functions you press more clearly?

I believe the custom POIs are located under Where to>Extras>Custom POIs.

Did you actually CLICK on Custom-POIs?

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Garmin 2730 POI problem

From the Main screen, at the bottom, TOOLS, MY DATA, CUSTOM POIs. There is nothing there.

However, following your reply:

From the MAIN screen, WHERE TO?, EXTRAS, Custom POIs, now I see all my POIs that I downloaded.

I spent hours on this.

Why are they under EXTRAS and not MY DATA, CUSTOM POIs?

Everything under tools is for controlling how your unit works. All POIs (Custom, Recently found, Built in, and Favorites) are located under the "where to" function.

Still not sure what is supposed to be under TOOLS, MY DATA, CUSTOM POIs, but at least now I found where they are being downloaded to, WHERE TO, EXTRAS, CUSTOM POIs....

I spent a lot of time trying to figure this out tonight.

OK, I'll answer my own

OK, I'll answer my own question this time.

TOOLS, MY DATA, CUSTOM POIs, is the only place that you can DELETE ALL.

WHERE TO?, EXTRAS, CUSTOM POIs is where you can actually view them.

Thats the only purpose for that function.

Now I understand.....must be getting late.
