Keeping the Windmill Alive - Where was your last trip with your GPS?

If anyone is in danger of losing their windmill, maybe you can share with us the last place your GPS took you and if you encountered any problems, or if you use it to seek out special places to go. (Like Thai Food, ice cream shoppes, etc.) Anything to keep your windmill alive smile.

This isn't my last trip, but I thought I'd share this.

My sister and her husband just got back from England and Scotland. Before they left they purchased a Nuvi 270. She said it saved their marriage.

With absolute accuracy, it took them down old dirt wagon roads and goat paths until they reached their destination - an old English cottage in the middle of no where that belonged to an old aunt. I saw the pictures of these four ft. wide dirt roads and was amazed that a GPS even knew they existed.

The GPS also was a big help in city driving as well.
After much debate, they were truly happy with their decision to buy it for this trip. She said the could have rented one for $20 a day out there and they stayed 20 days. Considering they paid $400 for it here in the US, it paid for itself. My sister said that if she never used it again, she got her monies worth!
(Being a golfer and a motorcycist, I'm sure she'll be using it again, and again.)

Lassen National Park

My wife and I just took a 3 day camping trip with my son, his wife, and the grand kids. We went to Lassen National Park. It was a good trip but not as relaxing as most of our camping trips. Between hiking into Bumpass hell, hiking to Manzanita Lake and then hiking around the lake, hiking to the store a few times for ice cream, etc., hiking back to the lake so the kids could swim............ Wow. I'd forgotten how much work used to be when my kids were small. We did it a lot (it was cheap!) but these days our camping is usually a lot more relaxing!

It was well worth the effort. The only bad thing was getting home Sunday evening, unpacking from camping, and immediately packing to leave first thing this morning on a 4 day work trip.

...And Back again!

Getting in the car, pushing the button to take me home, and the voice says to keep going south "for two hundred and sixty three miles" -- it's going to be a long drive!

It was a big help for the detours we took, and is always willing to provide an update on "are we there yet?"

Using mine to get around in Las Vegas for new areas.Did use my gps while walking around during the day to save locations of where the water shows would be at night.Came in handy when going back to find the right garage to park in at Las Vegas to cut down on some leg work.Especially good for getting in the correct lane to turn on.The traffic here is as bad as NY.

Helped out with a detour

Coming home Thursday night from the Boston area, we hit traffic back up from construction on Rt. 495. I turned the GPS on, went into Settings and hit the "Avoid highways". I recalculated and got us off at the next exit, took us on a secondary main road. When we saw a familiar highway sign for Rt. 290 we picked it up there. Turned off the GPS and got home without having to wait in all that traffic.

Baltimore and Back

A good performance today from the Nuvi and TTN traffic. Got a warning of slow traffic on the southbound leg - fairly accurate - and stuck with I95. Weather, plus heavy traffic, made this a challenging drive, but for the most part, drivers exercised what passes for common sense.

On the northbound return trip, traffic again was heavy and I detoured to an alternate route. The weather had cleared and that made for a much more pleasant ride home.

All around town shopping...

and we didn't break the bank with purchases! It's an old 260 so we didn't get to save any gas $ using econo-routing

Lowe's Home Improvement

I use my 1490T to visit all the Lowe's stores in NJ. I have to go to each one once a month. I like the "multiple routing" feature on this GPS. I can select which stores I will be going to and it will tell me the best route from one to the next.

(looks like I inadvertently answered someone’s post from 2007, but I'll leave my answer here anyway)
Not sure if it was my current Nuvi 765T, or my old 350 (probably the 350), but I did try to locate my car at Epcot a couple of years ago.
First I locked my cars location into my GPS when I parked. Then, when leaving Epcot, I believe I went into pedestrian mode before routing back to my car's location. I'm not sure what the map details were, but it gave me a straight line back to my car. The thing I didn't like was that the line was fixed on the screen, and when I had to detour around an obstacle, the line sometimes went off the screen.
