new vehicle posted in the Garmin Garage ... a quad named "Bash"

i just got new icons from the garmin garage, and have not even downloaded the new maps yet.

i thought i could check the icons out online individually, and delete unwanted ones to save battery...which does not last very long at all.

well, i accidentally hit open file with adobe, and i saw icons change. so i deleted some icons, including the original two that were in it...i think i may have killed it!

now even after adding new ones individually again from that site, it wont' work anymore.

it keeps saying "?" over the new icon and saying poor sattelite reception...aquiring sattelites and i can only go into some strange indoor simuator mode.

help!!!!!

how can i get it to move?!

can i get the original 2 cars back?

do they have some incripted movement code attached?

- The number of vehicles should not effect battery life.

- I don't understand what you mean by you opened Adobe and saw icons change...

- If you deleted any of them, I would assume they are gone.

- Vehicles will not cause you to not get reception. The "?" over the vehicle is the unit looking for sats, it has nothing to do with the vehicle. Search the forum for ways to improve your reception. Are you trying to do this indoors?

- Do you know which vehicles you had? The Garmin garage should have them, or the link above to older vehicles should.

yes, i downloaded them again off a garmin link to update and upgrade!

i will search the forum for more ways to improve reception.

i also assume if i can find time to keep the gps plugged into the pc longer than 4 hours i may get it to not die in 4 hours.

it is good to know that the # of icons should not matter regarding battery depletion...do you know of anything that would, other than having the brightness up high? (i turned it down to 20% now.)

If you are getting 4 hours of battery life you are doing good.What you have done setting the background light is about the best you can do to save battery power.I did see in owners manual if you place the unit in direct sunlight or in a hot environment it will not charge.

Edit.One tip to save battery power I forgot about.When using the unit only using the battery.Once you turn it on and get reception.Slide the power switch all the way to the right in the lock position.After a few seconds the screen will dim a lot.Like in sleep mode.This will save the battery power.Just touch on the screen when needed to bring screen back up.If you need to change screens you will need to move back to left on unlock.

The 265 is right fast acquiring satellite reception.You can get reception inside your home but limited depending on the location.Take it outside away from tall tree and buildings and let it set for a few minutes to acquire satellite reception.You should be good to go after that.The hot fix function works well.

265 only comes with a startup manual you can download the owners manual at http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/2675_OwnersManual.pdf .Look in the trouble shooting section pages 47 and 48 and it will address the two problems you have listed as well as other problems.Have fun with your unit and welcome to the site.

i know! it was so weird not to have a full owners manual! i looked for one online and didn't see it. thanks very much for the facts and the site location! if the makers had included the manual, it would add to cost, but sure make a lot of happy users!

This is totally not GPS statement, and the first and probably the only one I will ever make. I gotta tell ya, my neighbor just recently sold a 60s something model Pontiac Firebird for $22,000. It had a frame off restoration about 7 years ago, and looks brand new!!

I currently have three birds.
1 - 1998 Firebird Formula 11.60 in the 1/4. 7.55 1/8 mile. (Used it for my avatar). Daily driver street car, and track. Its nice to click off a mid 11 and drive it work the next day. Hehehe

2 - 2002 Firebird Formula. SHOW CAR. 1 of 94 BSM, 1 of 901 Formula's total for 2002. (The last year built). Has only 6K on it. Only does shows/events. Its a proven winner with dozens of awards. Even took first at World of Wheels. This past season took 1st in its class at the Showcase Classics 10th anniversary show.

3 - 2002 Trans Am. BSM ~500HP 12.50 car(slow cuz of the stock trans). Summer street thumper. Onl 31K on it.

Yup..I'm a bit of a firebird nut.

With the three I have now, I find it difficult to justify another bird. Oh well... Perhaps one of these days.

How do I search for specific vehicles on his site?

Youcan't "search" on Tony's site in the classic sense, but he has added previews of all the vehicles on the bottom of the page. These previews are broken out into catagories (ie: racing, trucks, classics, movies, etc) It makes finding something pretty easy.
