He's ALSO added a nice tutorial on how to create your own SRF files, an 11-page PDF that is quite clear to follow. It also links to the appropriate FREE applications that are necessary. And duly noted is the fact that it ain't for the faint-hearted - only seasoned PC users should bang their heads with it.

He's simply amazing... He also posted a new version of his guide on creating SRF objects, aimed at the more advanced users. It seems more and more people are creating ANIMATED vehicles now - like the quad that does a jump, or the plane that does a barrel roll.

One day I'll give it a try........ I just wonder if they'll let me drive that plane, or shall I just be allowed to sit back and - hummm - relax ?

That's cool! I did a custom vehicle with Google sketchup, but I did not have all the scripts to automate the exports. Took me forever.

I'll surely give those scripts a try. Now if I could find a sketchup model of a 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander...

This is a great place to find new a vehicle when you're tired of the same old Garmin vehicles. There is a total of 762 currently available. I really like the preview feature that lets you see it on the day and night screen.

The shoes could have had one more edge to them - the red soles. But we won't hold it against the designers for once

It's a 2001 Kia Sportage 4x4 with a Roof Rack and 235-75/15 boots.
I have made it in White for the base model I have, and grey for the EX fully loaded model I also have.

I'm pretty new at it (very new at it), but it's pretty fun - changing colors is pretty easy, but I don't have access to working 3D models from anywhere else, but if one of those would work for you, I can help out or feel free to go ahead on your own!!!

24 Pages, but there's a silver and black F-150 there. Marcelo is mclbarri and did a lot of the vehicles at the top site (I'm not sure if the RS links still work, though, and not sure how to contact him).

Only if those fail, check http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ (Server fails often, so you might have to search "F-150 Sketchup 3D Model" in Google.

If you find something you like, changing colors is usually no problem.

Changing wheels and removing/adding wings - adding decals might not be too hard, but I haven't tried any of that yet, and it's beyond my skill level.

If you can't find a 3D model in Sketchup or convertible to Sketchup, I can't help you.

I just clicked on the link jgermann posted and they have 160 different files. There are instructions to use their "Install" software (click the "Install" tab), but I did not see an install button. There are instructions to manually install the file though.

to have an icon exactly as your car is, but when the size is so small it really does not matter.

For instance I drive a white VW Passat with a sunroof but my icon is a Honda Civic which has a sunroof. At those miniature sizes on the GPS screen can you really tell the difference?

Having said all that. I just downloaded the 800 sedan from Garmin since it too is white and has a sunroof. I'll transfer that to my Garmins to see how it looks.

Extract the ZIP file and drag/drop the .SRF file in GarminVehicle folder on your Garmin storage.

There are a lot of places that have a few SRT files, but V4GN was the best by far. Not only in selection, but in the way that they displayed the icons.

Definitely miss the vehiclesforgarminnuvi website. It was an excellent resource.
