Arizona Ticket Cameras On Bill Oreilly on Foxnews tonight

Bill O'Reilly had John Stossel on tonight talking about the Arizona ticket cameras. Showed a video of a person in an easter bunny costume climbing up and putting a cardboard cover over the camera.

The gist of the story was that the government has been spending money fast in recent years and revenues are down now because of the economy.

Red Light Sky Cam (April 1)

Amazing technology but is it just another Cam Scam?

City councils across the nation are investigating buying into a multi-aperture satellite camera system that can reportedly monitor hundreds of intersections at a time.

School Bus cameras

While watching the local news tonight they did a piece on cameras in School Buses. The cameras swing out with the stop sign on the bus when the bus stops in the street to let kids on or off. Passing the bus takes your picture and you know what comes in the mail.

Stop Sign Cameras?

Yep, well, kind of.

http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/2010/03/fed-up-yet-chicago...

These are in the Chicagoland area. I guess they don't actually have cameras. They just want people to think there are cameras.

But we will see how long it takes for one of these to catch on!!

Is anyone near Quartzsite, AZ?

Any forum members that are near Quartzsite, AZ, and can go by and see how far the "Photo Enforcement" warning sign is from the white van on the eastbound I-10, I'd be really interested in knowing.

I was by there and it didn't look to be the required 300'.

Baton Rouge, LA, camera locations

I've sent a report to MissPOI about some locations in Baton Rouge that are incorrectly marked as having cameras. This was during a trip to visit some old college friends.

I was hoping some of you living in Baton Rouge could double-check the other locations. Strangely enough, they are also listed on the official Baton Rouge website: http://brgov.com/RedLight/locations.htm

California Highway Patrol now has radar guns

The last few months I have seen CHP officers parked by the side of the freeway with speed guns.

You used to *never* see those on freeways in California. City cops on surface streets, yes. But not on the freeway.

No GPS cost me 100 bucks

Didn't have my GPS in the car the other day made a right turn on red... yes there was a sign saying no right on red (my fault) so I got my first red light cam ticket.

Lesson learned take your GPS and load your red light camera POI'S!!!!

Chicago Tribune Story on Yellow Lights: UPDATE Going below Federal Guidelines

http://www.chicagotribune.com/classified/automotive/ct-met-y...

Very good article. My favorite part was this,

"Camera opponents point to anecdotal evidence that suggests increasing yellows can reduce red-light running. Several Georgia cities last year yanked cameras after a new state law forced yellows to be lengthened and violations plummeted.

The trouble with speed cameras.....

The trouble with speed cameras is you get a ticket in the mail with a picture of your car, and a computer generated statement as to the speed you are alleged to be going.

There is no way to refute it. There is no way to know whether the radar speed sensor is really picking up the car next to you, or the side of a barn, or some tree going 85 mph.

Cleveland Red Light and speed cams

Does anyone know if Cleveland dumped a lot of their red light cameras. I just started a job here and as I was drivimg around yesterday I was warned about cameras. I looked very closely at several warnings and could not find thew cameras. Any one from Cleveland

Arizona Ticket Cameras

I am posting this from Phoenix.

I have to say the sheer number of speed cameras on the highways here are unbelievable.

I am driving along at the prevailing speed of the traffic and passing camera after camera. LOTS of traffic.

Seattle RedLight Camera Illegal

Two Seattle traffic court judges have been dismissing tickets from the RedLight Camera at 45th Street and Union Bay Place (near the University of Washington). This intersection had 5 roads coming together...state law only allows Ticket cameras where 4 roads come together.

Maybe a limit on fines for red light and speed cameras

What if the red light and speed camera fines were limited to $10, and no points to one's license. If you are pulled over by an officer of the law you would be subject to the full fine normally charged by the state or local government. Who ever is registered for a license plate that is found on the violation is charged.

Did anyone ever test a camera

...by going through a yellow and confirming no ticket? Or perhaps inadvertently test it?

My theory is that if you go through a red light, you know it, because you see the red light. If you see yellow, it was yellow. And from what I understand the cameras don't "arm" themselves until red....
