Speed Camera Company Admission May Mean Tickets Issued From 1997-2008 Weren't Valid

We discussed this before. But here it is in the news again. Redflex are apparently such scofflaws I don't know how anyone can believe anything that comes from them.

Redflex admits in their lawsuit with ATS that their radar units were not FCC certified until 2008.

Directional POI?

I have a Garmin 750 with the POI file from this site. Is it possible to make the red light camera file directional so that it only alerts when you are travelling towards a red light camera?

Mobile Speed Cameras - Washington DC Area

There is a speed camera car often parked on the grass on Mass Ave, a few blocks towards downtown from Wisconsin.

Although these mobile speed cameras may move, I think it would be useful to have a POI file showing where they are often located. Is there a way to have a designation indicating that the speed camera is mobile and not always present?

Florida Gov. Crist Signs Red Light Camera Bill..!!

The following was a news article from a Florida newspaper. I trimmed down all the fluff and non-essential information contained.. while still leaving most of what was written intact.

Gov. Charlie Crist ceremonially signed a bill Tuesday designed to prevent others from dying in accidents caused by red-light runners.

I'm not really lost.... just temporarily misplaced!

Be Very Careful In Show Low, AZ

I downloaded the latest Redlight/Speed Camera files before leaving on an extended weekend trip up North to Show Low, AZ. I saw they had some redlight/speed camera locations in the files. But so anyone who is going to Show Low, you need to be aware that not all of the cameras are in the files. ( I didn't have the time to take the gps coordinates).

OK.....so where the heck am I?

What do you think about this camera thought?

Suppose cities start using cameras to monitor parking metered spaces for time violations? The cameras could be put in short term areas, such as 15 minute spaces, and take pictures of the car violating the time allotment for parking. A wifi connection between the meter and the camera could provide the information for the time expiration. Big Brother is watching!!!

Updating Speed Alerts on Traffic Camera POI's

Posted within this hallowed forum is a "how to" change the speed alerts for the traffic camera POIs. The really kind, smart and benevolent person who put it here is to be commended.

But where is it? I used it once but can't find it now.

False camera activity

I was driving on the AZ Freeway 101, and going 64 mph in a 65 mph zone (I had just gotten on the freeway and was getting up to speed).

I was alone in the segment of the freeway, and the damn photo radar camera flashed me.

Columbus, Oh getting ready to add more cameras downtown

Columbus city council approved 20 more red-light cameras. The main reason of doubling the number of cameras is safety. It’s not about the money, officials insist. (cough cough)
