Cleveland's 5 year camera deal expires in Novemeber 2010

Petition drives aimed at shutting down traffic cameras in Cleveland, Garfield Heights begin.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Drives to ban unattended traffic cameras in Cleveland and Garfield Heights started on Friday, with leaders saying they expect no trouble gathering enough signatures to put the issue before voters in November.

Maryanne Petranek of Cleveland, vice chair of the group Cuyahoga County for Liberty, said all of its 150 members are committed to the campaign and are getting more requests for petitions.
"There's going to be people coming out of the woodwork to help with this campaign," she said at a noontime press conference at Chester Avenue and East 71st Street, the intersection where the most tickets from red-light cameras have been issued in Cleveland.
