looked at poi file yesterday
Actually, I was surprised at the proliferation of cams in places I wouldn't have expected. We tend to only worry about our own area.
At the growth rates with which these cams are being installed, do we really at some point say we pretty much have to stop at every red light? I know a coworker in Columbus OH says they tend to stop now.

saw a RLC on overload
I wonder if it needs a new flash unit? A funeral procession went through the red light--must have seen at least 14 successive flashes times two. I bet there is some technicality that they don't have to pay. it's still dangerous, the perpendicular traffic may go with a green left arrow, and be unaware that the funeral is blowing the light.

Brooksville, Fl. Red Light Cameras
I was traveling through Brooksville on Sunday on the way back from scalloping in Crystal River and I came upon a red light camera intersection that had a warning sign and cameras already installed. This did not show up on my Garmin.
I believe the intersection was U.S. 41/South Broad Street and MLK Blvd/West Summit Road. I thought I saw another sign along that stretch, but I'm not certain.

Here's another "Good News", "Bad News" data point on RL cameras, from today's local newspaper:

WESTMINSTER (AP) — Westminster Police will deactivate two of the remaining three red-light cameras in the city, citing more crashes caused by rear-end collisions than by running red lights.

Nassau County, NY Red Light Cameras
Be extra careful when travelling near Nassau Blvd & Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead. The flash on the red light camera must be very nervous, because it pops photos faster than the paparazzi shooting Tom Cruise & Katy Holmes.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) yesterday ordered a halt to red light camera ticketing in 21 cities. The agency became concerned drivers are being shortchanged and the law violated after learning that 63 of 85 photo ticketing intersections failed to meet legal requirements for yellow signal timing.
