New Orlando Cameras "Its not about the money"

Adding new and shuffling existing cameras because they were only breaking even. When they deny it not about the money......

When they deny it not about the money......

It's the money.

Kind of like saying "with all due respect..." right before being disrespectful.

Attention JM or Angela

The RLC file needs to be re-worked in the Orlando area.

I just checked the RLC file and the cameras removed are still in the file and the ones added are missing.

The new cameras mentioned in the article are already included in the camera files, and a couple of the removed cameras mentioned in the article were already dropped.

I marked the remaining 3 locations as removed, and they will be dropped from next week's files.

Earlier this month, I cross checked the locations for Ocoee, Apopka, Maitland, Winter Park, and unicorporated Orange County; so I think we're in pretty good shape.

Thanks,

"Orlando is rearranging some of its red-light cameras, dropping five that were not making money and opening five on streets that intersect with much busier state roads."

Five intersections that were not making money. No mention of safety. Oh, and I like that they're moving the cameras to intersections that are busier. With the hopes of making the intersections "safer" I'm sure. Now if they said they were moving the cameras to five dangerous intersections, then maybe I'd believe it was about safety.

I guess Disney World doesn't bring in enough money?

From the article

Quote:

Crashes had dropped at the abandoned sites, he said, and "they weren't generating a whole lot of activity."

airbags

Were they all about money as well? It's been 18 years now. Probably, 10 years from now, there will be no more talk about rlc, speed cams, stop sign cams, we'll find something more interesting and meaningful to discuss.

Either way

The sentence can be interpreted either way, because "activity" can either mean, lack of accidents, or lack of violations. I took it as lack of violations. If he meant, lack of accidents, why would he be redundant?

Presumably a red light

Presumably a red light camera doesn't make money when drivers obey the traffic signal. A camera which isn't making money isn't needed at that location.

You can say it's about the money (you may be right) but from a different angle.....locations which are likely to generate revenue $$$ are also locations which have drivers running the light.

My answer would be different if the cameras are going to intersections with a lot of right on red without stopping for 3 second potential for ticketing.

As Mr. Throat once said...

Follow the money!

Much Thanks

Jonathan--Much thanks for you attention and devotion to the Red Light Camera file. I just wanted to show my appreciation. I imagine it can be a bit of work to keep up on it and keep it current.

Thanks again!
