Interesting POI file suggestions that are not available on Google Maps?

New member checking in! Quick question for the regulars: what POI files do you find most useful other than the traffic cameras? Anything interesting that is not widely available on google maps?

Some suggested clean up

With a new version of GE some clean up comments have been posted. Along those lines you might review the thread at http://www.poi-factory.com/node/50977 for guidance in cleaning up old map files, each of which can be around 6 to 8 GB..

Garmin Express Update

Garmin Express 7.28.0.0 is now available

IPadOS 26.2 A WORD OF CAUTION

I use IPadOS 18.7.3 which was released around December 12th 2025. I just went into Settings to check for a possible update and the only thing presented is version 26.2. It doesn’t even inform the user what version is being used, just immediately goes to downloading 26.2 unless you have auto updates OFF.

Internet Devices With GPS

My wife and I are RVing right now and we have been in Gulf Shores the past week. For internet, I have been using an Inseego MiFi X Pro 5G M3000. I noticed that when I bring up Google maps, my location was not shown. I found out that the M3000 has an internal GPS, but it was turned off. I enabled it and Google maps once again shows my current location.

did a good deed

And it felt good.

I found a wallet on the sidewalk.

I was going to turn it into the police, but my wife said just knock on the door, and leave it (the address was the street behind us and a ways up the road).

It was a 20 yo kid's wallet--no money, DL,bank card, debit card, health care.

Crazy that you may need some form of special tool to replace a license plate and that device can be used elsewhere in the vehicle.

trade offs are not free

One would think that in life, there is no free lunch.

There usually is some sort of inverse relationship, or compromise.

Dash cam observation

For the sleuths out there, we are used to our Vantrue. No complaints, true 4K, older Starvis sensor, have a front/rear setup in my daily driver that is off the road right now.

Flash forward when our vehicle was destroyed in May 2025, another Vantrue was destroyed.
